New Delhi: Narendra Modi has become the Prime Minister of the country for the third time, but this time the results of the Lok Sabha elections have given a big shock to the BJP. Actually, in this election, BJP has suffered a huge loss of vote share and seats. BJP was in the electoral fray with the slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’. But the public stopped BJP at 240 seats only. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP alone won 303 seats. This time BJP has suffered a huge loss of 63 seats. Although BJP has formed the government with the support of NDA’s allies, but BJP has started making all efforts to regain its lost strength. This is the reason why BJP does not want to take any chances regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir. BJP will especially focus on Maharashtra and Haryana, because Congress is coming alive again in Haryana and dealing with Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra is no less than a big challenge. BJP has a lot at stake in Maharashtra-Haryana. Both the states have suffered a major setback in the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, BJP has handed over the command of the elections in these two states to its two strong strategists. BJP has appointed Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav as Maharashtra and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as Haryana’s state election in-charge. BJP has not bet on these two stalwarts without any reason. Let’s know the reason behind this.
Bhupendra Yadav has the ability to run the organization
- Bhupendra Yadav is considered skilled in running the organization. Bhupendra Yadav has performed brilliantly in the elections of UP-Bihar. Now he/she has been given a new responsibility in Maharashtra.
- Bhupendra Yadav won by a huge margin from Rajasthan’s hot seat Alwar in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Bhupendra Yadav is a resident of Haryana and he/she contested from Alwar seat of Rajasthan.
- The party had sent Bhupendra Yadav to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in the year 2012 and after the completion of his/her term, he/she was again nominated to Rajya Sabha in the year 2018.
- In the year 2014, the party appointed him/her as the National General Secretary of BJP. After which his/her stature gradually increased in the party and the party made him/her in-charge of Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and in 2020, he/she took over the post of in-charge of Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and benefited the BJP. Bhupendra Yadav was given the Ministry of Labor and Employment along with Environment, Forest and Climate Change by the BJP’s central government in 2021.
Dharmendra Pradhan has been a troubleshooter for BJP
- BJP has made Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in-charge for Haryana assembly elections. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has played a role in BJP’s victory in many states including Bihar.
- In Haryana, BJP has suffered a major setback in the Lok Sabha elections compared to 2019. The party has won 5 out of 10 seats. BJP had won 10 seats in 2019. In such a situation, the party faces many challenges in the assembly elections to be held at the end of this year. In such a situation, behind handing over the election command to Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP is confident that BJP’s position will remain strong in Haryana.
- Dharmendra has proven to be reliable since 2014, when he/she took over as Petroleum Minister in Modi’s first term and then Education Minister in the second term. Dharmendra Pradhan has been a minister in many fields. Even veteran leaders like Rajnath Singh acknowledge his/her working style.
- Dharmendra Pradhan has always got an important position in PM Modi’s cabinet. After being made the election in-charge of the largest and politically important state like UP, Dharmendra Pradhan’s stature increased a lot in the party. Dharmendra Pradhan has been in-charge of many states and in this role, under his/her leadership, BJP has performed very well in many states including Bihar.
