Naseeruddin Shah is one of those veteran actors of Indian cinema, who is a school of acting in himself. Born on 20 July 1950, Naseer sahab has turned 74 years old. he/she is not only active even at this stage of his/her age, but is still seen a lot on the stage of cinema as well as theatre. he/she has worked a lot in parallel cinema along with commercial films. In the year 1980, he/she entered the world of mainstream cinema with the film ‘Hum Paanch’. Since then, in the last 44 years, he/she has created many such characters which are immortal. Naseeruddin Shah, who has won three National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards, has been honoured with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. Born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Naseer sahab belongs to a Nawab family. his/her great-grandfather was Afghan Sardar Jan-Fishan Khan, who later became the Nawab of Sardhana. his/her relatives include Iqbal Ali Shah, Amina Shah, Omar Ali-Shah and Idris Shah. Naseer sahab, who studied at St. Anselm’s Ajmer School and St. Joseph’s College in Nainital, graduated from Aligarh Muslim University in 1971 and reached the National School of Drama in Delhi.

Naseeruddin Shah’s elder brother is retired Lieutenant General Zameeruddin Shah. he/she has had a distinguished career in the Indian Army. he/she has also served as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. he/she was later appointed a member of the Armed Forces Tribunal and also the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.
