New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in the Rajya Sabha on Monday that BJP gives a different meaning to the Constitution. Participating in the discussion on ’75 years of glorious journey of the Indian Constitution’ in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge said that when the Constitution was accepted, we should follow it only. Many things will emerge when each other’s faults are pointed out. he/she alleged that RSS people want the Constitution to be like Manu Smriti. he/she alleged that those who hate the national flag of India, our Ashok Chakra, our Constitution, are teaching us the lesson of the Constitution today. Kharge said that in a democracy, Parliament works with the ruling party and the opposition.

he/she said that today the series of atrocities against Scheduled Castes, Tribes, Other Backward Classes and women has not stopped. Look at the situation of your governments in the states. The Congress President said that for the first time the tricolor was hoisted at the RSS headquarters after the court order. he/she claimed that there is a threat to the Constitution so we have to remain alert.

Kharge said that those people who did not raise their voice for the country, did not even fight for the country, how will they know what freedom is. he/she asked what work has this government done in the last 11 years which has strengthened the democracy and constitution of the country.

Kharge said that Food Security Act, MNREGA and Right to Education Act were brought by the previous Congress government and even today these laws are helpful for the poor. Even during the Covid period, MNREGA was the biggest support for the workers. (with agency input)
