New Delhi: With the loss of Sydney Test to Australia, India’s hopes of WTC Final 2025 ended. India had a chance to play its third consecutive final, which came very close and went away. Now the Indian team will have to focus on the WTC final to be held in 2027. The ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 will start from June this year. India will play the first series under this championship with England.
Test series will be played between India and England in June-July this year. This five-match series is to be played in England. The first Test between the two teams will be played in Leeds from June 20. After returning from England, the Indian cricket team will play two home test series. The teams of West Indies and Sri Lanka will tour India only in 2025. India will play a two-match Test series with both the teams.

9 matches at home, 9 away…
6 series will be played under the World Test Championship 2025-27. There will be a total of 18 matches. The Indian team will have to play 9 of these matches at home and 9 away. Out of these 18 matches, India will play 10 matches against England and Australia. Australia team will tour India in 2026-27.
Winning half the matches will not get you a place in the finals.
To reach the final of the World Test Championship 2025-27, any team will have to win approximately 60 percent of the matches. India won half of its matches in the 2023-25 cycle, but remained at third position in the points table. India played 19 matches in the current WTC cycle, out of which it won 9 matches. It lost eight matches, while two matches were drawn.
