Rules changed after a ruckus.
New Delhi. In the Women’s Premier League on Saturday (February 15), there was a ruckus due to the controversial decision of the run out. The team of Delhi Capitals won against Mumbai Indians. Third umpire Gayatri Venugopalan described three Delhi batsmen Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy and Shikha Pandey despite the light burning of the gills.
The rules of Women’s Premier League have now been changed. According to ESPNcricinfo, in WPL 2025, changes in the rule will be with LED Bells. Earlier, the batsman was given out or not out after burning LED bails. But now this will not happen. Now the batsman will not be given a run out until the bails fall from the stump.
Let me tell you that despite the LED stump burning before the batsman reached the crease in the final over of KDC vs Mi Clash, third umpire Gayatri Venugopalan called three runs out not out. All three decisions went in favor of Delhi Capitals. Shikha Pandey’s run -out appeal was the first of the three incidents.
Former India captain Mithali Raj also commented on the match saying that the decision in the case of Arundhati and Radha Yadav should have gone in Mumbai’s favor. Former RCB cricket director Mike Hessen also expressed disbelief at the umpire’s decision. Investigations revealed that players of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals did not know about this rule in advance.
