World Test Championship final date announced, title clash will be held on this ground, India is also a contender

New Delhi. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (September 3) announced that the final of the third session of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be played at the iconic Lord’s from June 11 to 15 next year. The ICC has kept June 16 as a reserve day for this match. Lord’s will host the WTC final for the first time. Earlier, Southampton (2021) and the Oval (2023) hosted the last two title matches.

ICC Chief Executive Officer Geoff Allardice said in a statement, “The ICC World Test Championship Final has become one of the most important matches in the cricket calendar and we are happy to announce the dates for the 2025 season that next year the final of the World Test Championship will be played at Lord’s.

India was part of both the final matches in the last two World Test Championships. But they had to face defeat both times. The team was defeated by New Zealand in 2021 and Australia last year in 2023. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is at the top of the table ahead of defending champions Australia. With an aim to strengthen their position in the race for the WTC final, India will take on the Australian team in a five-match series later this year.

Let us tell you that New Zealand (third), England (fourth), South Africa (fifth), Bangladesh (sixth) and Sri Lanka (seventh) are in the race to reach the finals. However, Pakistan has faced a big disappointment after losing 0-2 in the home series against Bangladesh. This caused a big loss to Pakistan. Pakistan is now at number eight in this table and West Indies is at the lowest ninth position.
