Womens T20 World Cup: West Indies proudly in the semi-finals, gave South Africa a chance to celebrate by defeating England


New Delhi. West Indies women’s team has performed amazingly and made it to the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup. West Indies defeated England by 6 wickets in a do or die match on Tuesday. With this victory, the West Indies team pushed England from first to third place in the points table of Group B. South Africa directly benefited from this, which secured a ticket to the semi-finals by finishing second. Teams of Australia and New Zealand have reached the semi-finals from Group A.

The last group match in the Women’s T20 World Cup was played on Thursday. West Indies and England faced each other in this match of Group B. Before this match, England had won all three of its matches and was at number one in the points table. South Africa was at second place in the points table with 6 points. West Indies was at third position after winning two out of three matches. In this way, West Indies needed to win at any cost to reach the semi-finals.

Natalie got fifty
In the last group match of the Women’s T20 World Cup, England, batting first, scored 141 runs for 7 wickets. On her behalf, Natalie Shiver Brunt played an inning of 57 runs. Captain Heather Knight scored 21 runs, Daniel Watt scored 16 runs and Maria Bosher scored 14 runs. For West Indies, Effie Fletcher took 3 wickets and Hayley Mathews took 2 wickets.

Mathews-Kian’s Fifty
The manner in which West Indies batted in response surprised England. West Indies expressed their intentions by scoring 14 runs in the very first over of their innings. Captain Hayley Mathews (50) and Kianna Joseph (52) made a partnership of 102 runs in 12.2 overs for the first wicket.

Hayley Matthews and Kianna Joseph also got full support from England’s poor fielding. The England team fielded worse than the club level team in this match and dropped at least 6 catches. England had to suffer the consequences of this by being out of the tournament.

West Indies won this match in 18 overs. he/she scored 144 runs losing 4 wickets. After losing the match with 12 balls remaining, England’s net run rate decreased and they slipped from first to third place in the points table. West Indies qualified for the semi-finals by occupying the first position. South Africa managed to make it to the semi-finals by finishing second.
