Will Trump’s bet on Hindus on Bangladesh bridge the slight gap? Kamala Harris’s challenge will increase

New Delhi : There is not even a week left for the US Presidential elections. Voting will be held on November 5. The contest is between Kamala Harris of the ruling Democrat Party and Donald Trump of the Republican Party, who has once been the President. According to the pre-election survey, there is a very tough contest. There is a tough competition. According to the recent survey of Reuters-Ipsos, Kamala Harris has a lead of 1 percent over Trump in the close contest. But before the elections, Trump has played a big gamble. Such a bet which can not only help in bridging this one percent margin but can also ensure victory over their heads. This is Trump’s move to project himself as a protector of Hindu interests.

Trump’s ‘Hindu Bet’
Donald Trump on Thursday accused Kamala Harris and Joe Biden of ignoring Hindus on the occasion of Diwali. In a long post on social media platform X, he/she condemned the violence and atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

Trump accused Harris and Biden of ignoring Hindus in America and the whole world. Assured to protect Hindu Americans from the anti-religious agenda of the ‘Radical Left’. Gave assurance of fighting for their freedom. Promised to further strengthen partnership with India and his/her ‘good friend’ Narendra Modi.

Assured of support against anti-Hindu agenda
This is the first time that a former President of America has openly talked about Hindu interests in public. The issue of oppression and atrocities on Hindus has been raised. Has announced opposition to the anti-Hindu agenda. This move of Trump is an attempt to woo Indian Americans and especially Hindu Americans.

Kamala Harris’s hold on Indian Americans is weakening!
Indian Americans traditionally like the Democrat Party, but despite being of Indian origin, Kamala Harris seems to be failing to woo this community. According to the Indian American Attitude Survey (IAAS) started in 2020, the Democrat Party has been the first choice of Indian Americans. But according to the latest survey of IAS, the hold of the Democratic Party on the Indian American community has weakened. That too when Kamala Harris herself is of Indian origin. his/her mother was Shyamala Hindu. However, according to the survey, the Democratic Party still remains the first choice of the Indian American community.

Why are Hindu voters important?
In recent years, the political importance of the Indian American community in America has increased significantly. With a population of about 52 lakh, this community is the largest immigrant community in America after Mexican Americans. This can also be understood that the number of Indian Americans in America is between one and a half to two and a quarter percent. Most of them are Hindus. If the inclination of this class increases towards Trump, then this factor may prove to be decisive in the close contest with Harris.
