One lakh Indians living illegally in Britain: Robert Jenrick

Despite this, about one lakh Indians are currently living illegally in Britain. he/she claimed that the return of illegal Indians is also stuck.

What did Robert Jenrick say about the visa ban?

Conservative Party leader Robert Jenrick has outlined a five-point plan to increase the number of people deported from Britain illegally. It has been proposed that if generic planning is followed then more than one lakh people will be deported every year. “It is time we took a tough stance on these countries and refused to issue visas until they agreed to take back their citizens living in the UK illegally,” he/she said.

Illegal Indians sent back from Britain

An MoU was signed between Britain and India in 2021, through which the return of illegal Indian citizens can be facilitated easily. However, 22,807 illegal immigrants have been deported in 2023, out of which 15% i.e. 3,439 people were from India.

Visa rules becoming stricter in Britain

British PM Kier Starmer has said that companies violating work visa rules will no longer be allowed to hire employees from abroad. Many British companies, especially those involved in the healthcare, IT and hospitality industries, hire foreign workers. However, under the new visa rules, companies violating visa laws will be banned from hiring from abroad.
