External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also stressed on complete disengagement in those areas of Eastern Ladakh where Indian and Chinese soldiers are still face to face. It was said in the talks that complete disengagement and efforts to restore peace and stability on the border will have to be accelerated so that bilateral relations can be normalized soon. he/she also stressed that full compliance of bilateral agreements, protocols and agreements between the two governments is important. The Line of Actual Control should be respected and peace and stability should always be ensured in the border area.

Agreement to continue meetings of military officials
The foreign ministers of both countries agreed to continue meetings of their diplomatic and military officials so that the remaining issues can be resolved as soon as possible. For this, it was also agreed to convene a meeting of WMCC i.e. Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination soon. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that India-China relations can be strengthened by mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and following mutual interests. Both the ministers also discussed the global situation. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also expressed India’s support for China’s presidency of SCO next year.

There was tension between the two countries in May 2020
Tensions between India and China started on the LAC in Eastern Ladakh in May 2020, when Chinese troops advanced far ahead in many places. Since then, more than two dozen meetings of the WMCC have been held to end the deadlock and 21 rounds of Corps Commander level meetings have been held. After each meeting, a statement was issued by both sides saying that both sides are committed to resolve the deadlock through dialogue and the dialogue will continue continuously and both sides are agreed to maintain peace at the ground level.

The Chinese army had advanced in four places
When the tension started in Eastern Ladakh, Chinese soldiers had come forward at four places, after which the Indian Army also increased its deployment and Chinese and Indian soldiers were standing face to face. After the Corps Commander level talks between the two countries, the soldiers of both the countries retreated from all those four places. That is, they are no longer face to face there. First of all, disengagement took place in Pangong area i.e. Finger Area and PP-14 in Galwan, that is, the soldiers of both the countries retreated from face to face. Then the soldiers withdrew from PP-17 in Gogra and then the soldiers withdrew from PP-15 in Gogra-Hot Spring area. No-patrolling zones have been created at the places where disengagement took place. That is, until both the countries find a solution together, the area from 1 kilometer to 3 kilometers at these four places is a no-patrolling zone, that is, no patrolling will be done here. At these four places where the soldiers of both the countries were face to face, they moved back a few kilometers, this is called disengagement, that is, they are not in such a situation that a clash can happen immediately. However, the soldiers of both the countries are deployed in increased numbers in their respective areas. Depsang and Demchok are two such points where the dispute still persists. In every meeting, there is a discussion about these two points. In every meeting, India has been asking to restore the situation here as before.
