Will reach Baghpat in just 25 minutes, work on first phase of Delhi-Dehradun highway completed

New Delhi : The work on the first phase of Delhi-Dehradun Highway has been completed. It is also going to be inaugurated soon. The distance of about 32 km from Akshardham temple to Baghpat will be covered in just 25-30 minutes. After the opening of the highway, on one hand it will benefit the people going directly to Baghpat from Delhi, on the other hand the movement of lakhs of people living in the colonies under Karawal Nagar and Mustafabad assembly will also become easier.

Elevated from Geeta Colony to Wazirabad PTS

Delhi-Dehradun Highway starts from Akshardham and will enter UP from the MCD toll booth on the Delhi-UP border via Khajuri Pushta Road. The distance is 15 km from Akshardham, where it is built in two phases. The entire part of the highway from Akshardham temple to Geeta Colony crematorium is on the ground, while an elevated highway has been built from the crematorium near Wazirabad PTS. A large part of the highway from PTS till UP border has been built on land.

Features of Delhi Dehradun Highway

On the elevated portion of the highway, the speed has been fixed at 100 km per hour for light vehicles and 80 km per hour for heavy vehicles. When vehicles pass over the highway at such high speed, people living in colonies on both sides of the highway will not face any problem with the noise; for this, sound proof barriers have been installed on both sides. CCTV cameras have also been installed on the highway.

Highway exit and entry facilities

Exit and entry facilities have been provided at Gamdi Panchvan Pushta and Kaithwada on the highway. People coming from Baghpat, UP, who want to go to North-East Delhi, Kashmiri Gate Bus Stand or Central Delhi, can get down from the highway at Gamdi Panchwan Pushta and decide their further journey. Apart from this, people living in North-East Delhi who have to go to any other place including Akshardham and Noida can board the highway from Kaithwada. With this, they will get rid of the jam at Shastri Park as well as Gandhi Nagar Pushta Road. Similarly, a loop has been made near Shastri Park to climb over the highway.

Freedom from jam on Outer Ring Road

This new highway will save the people coming from Noida along Yamuna crossing and going to Haryana via Outer Ring Road via Rohini, Pitampura, from the traffic jam at Hanuman Temple and Majnu Ka Tila. A loop near Khajuri Chowk on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway goes straight towards the Signature Bridge. After this, after crossing the Yamuna, one can easily reach the Outer Ring Road through the loop built near Majnu Ka Tila.

There will be ease in movement of lakhs of people

Dozens of colonies are situated on both sides of the highway. Underpasses built at different places on Pushta Road will make movement of people easier. Of these, the first underpass has been built near DLF Ankur Vihar UP, the second underwest Karawal Nagar and the third underpass near Wazirabad PTS. With this, people living in colonies situated on one side will be able to move to the other side.
