Will offer chadar on behalf of PM Modi, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will visit Ajmer Sharif Dargah on January 4

New Delhi: PM Modi will send a chadar on January 4 on the occasion of the 813th Urs of Khwaja Garib Nawaz to be held in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will go to the Dargah in Ajmer with a chadar on his/her behalf. Prime Minister Modi will hand over this sheet to various parties related to the Dargah in Delhi a day before and for this a delegation will go from Ajmer to Delhi. The Ministry of Minority Affairs has started preparations for this event. Names have also been sought from organizations like Dargah Committee, Dargah Diwan, Anjuman Syed Jadgan.

This tradition is celebrated every year during the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, where a Chadar is offered at Dargah Sharif on behalf of the Prime Minister. The Union Minister of Minority Affairs represents the Prime Minister on this important occasion. Rijiju will reach Jaipur airport at 7:15 am on Saturday and will go to Ajmer by road. The ceremony of offering the chadar will take place at Ajmer Dargah Sharif at 11 am. During this visit, Union Minister Rijiju will also launch the web portal of Dargah Sharif and ‘Garib Nawaz’ mobile app. Their objective is to increase the convenience of the devotees. Apart from this, Urs Manual will also be released, which will contain details of operations and arrangements of Urs.

New web portal will be launched

The new web portal will provide detailed information about the life and teachings of Khawaja Saheb. It also provides details about the facilities provided by the Dargah Committee, such as ‘Langar’ and ‘Deg’ services, and includes the option of online guest house booking. A key feature of the portal is the Live Darshan feature, which enables devotees from all over the world to watch live telecast of the events taking place at Dargah Sharif.

The ‘Garib Nawaz’ app designed for devotees will complement the portal in providing accessible and user-friendly services. The Urs manual to be released by Rijiju will include the historical background, traditions and detailed arrangements for the Urs. The manual aims to streamline coordination between the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, the Dargah Committee and the district administration, so that visitors can have a smooth experience.
