Will Modi listen to Chandrababu Naidu, if this unique model is implemented in the whole country then the country will become like Switzerland

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is a part of the Narendra Modi government, has recently talked about conducting a skill census in his/her state. Chandrababu Naidu criticized the agenda of the India Alliance and said that there is more need for a skill census instead of a caste census. If Naidu’s plan succeeds, Andhra Pradesh will be the first state in the country to conduct such a census.
This census will enable us to uncover the capacity and shortcomings of our workforce. It is believed that this initiative of Naidu will enable full use of human resources. This initiative of Naidu is being welcomed on social media. Most people are talking about implementing it all over India. In fact, today when caste census, religion based census is being talked about everywhere, this initiative of Naidu can prove to be very revolutionary. According to experts, this initiative of Naidu is so good that it can become an example for the whole country.

There are many degree holders in India, but none are fit for jobs

India has a mixed bag when it comes to skills. More than half of the population in India is under the age of 25. This is a huge potential. However, Indian youth are facing high rates of unemployment and underemployment. Many people have degrees, but lack the skills required for the available jobs. Before moving ahead, let us understand from the graphic what is the state of unemployment in the country.

Unemployment is at its peak among the youth who graduate

According to the Periodic Labor Force Survey, 2022-23, the rate of unemployment among the youth who graduate is very high. Andhra Pradesh is number one among them with 24 percent. At the same time, the unemployment rate among the BIMARU states is Bihar with 16.6 percent, Uttar Pradesh with 11 percent, Madhya Pradesh with 9.3 percent and Rajasthan with 23.1 percent.

Skill training to people as per need

Through Skill Census, we can accurately find out what kind of skills are lacking in different industries across the country. We can fulfill this need by giving training. Suppose an industry needs people trained in Artificial Intelligence. In such a situation, we can fulfill the need of that industry by training more people in AI. Before moving ahead, take a look at this graphic.

Skills Census

Helpful in meeting global skill needs

Skill Census can help us find out which skills are in high demand globally. Any country can train its workforce to make them more competitive. According to Delhi University professor Rajeev Ranjan Giri, this initiative of Naidu should be welcomed across the country. PM Modi should also implement it across the country so that India has accurate information about its human resources. It will also be known how skilled this human resource is.

Develop training programs for the skills needed

Effective training programs can be developed through the skill census. Courses can be designed that can meet the required skills. This can be done only when the skill census can tell how many people are equipped with skills.

Finland is the most skilled country in the world

According to a report of the World Economic Forum’s Human Capital Index, Finland, Norway and Switzerland are the countries with the highest skilled population in the world, which are on the first, second and third positions respectively. The system of primary schools in these countries is very good. The literacy of the youth is very good and such education or training is given which prepares them for every kind of skill. According to Professor Giri, if India also conducts a skill census and prepares its population according to the needs of the industry, then it can become a country like Switzerland or Norway.

Skill census is more important than caste-religion based census

Professor Rajeev Ranjan Giri of Delhi University says that the skill census initiative in Andhra Pradesh is a very good plan. This can change the picture of not only Andhra but the whole of India. When we will know how many skills our workforce is equipped with, then we can bargain with other countries of the world for human resources as per our wish. Then this workforce will not remain just labour. It will be able to work on its own terms. PM Modi should get skill census done in the whole of India. This will present a different example in the current politics apart from caste-religion based census.

Talks ahead of Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is also known as Pradhan Mantri Youth Training Program. The Government of India started this scheme in July 2015. Under this scheme, a plan was made to train one crore youth by 2020. The purpose of this scheme is to provide employment to those who are less educated or leave school midway. In this scheme, registration is done for three months, six months and one year. A certificate is given after completing the course. This certificate is valid all over the country.
