Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of America-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has informed about the changes in the immigration policy of the Trump government. Speaking to Business Today, Aghi said that immigration was a big issue in the elections. he/she said that under the Trump government, students doing Masters and PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) can get residency quickly through H-1B visa.

“Many skilled and (STEM) graduates will get residency permits soon,” he/she said. Dr. Aghi believes that in future it will be easier for H-1B visa holders to get green cards directly. Most of the Indians who go to study in America study only STEM subjects. The US government first gives green cards to highly qualified people. Because of this, Indians easily fit into this category.

The debate on visa policies has intensified since Trump became President. Tesla CEO Elon Musk supported Trump, saying, “he/she will solve the green card problem for skilled professionals.” Abhijit Zaveri, founder and director of Career Mosaic, says that “Trump has already talked about making it easier for F1 student visa holders to get green cards.” “This will help Indian students studying in America to find work,” Javeri said.

From the beginning, Donald Trump has been advocating for the settlement of such people in the country who are highly qualified. Whenever the most educated communities in America are mentioned, the names of Indians are definitely included in it. Indians are working in sectors ranging from technology to finance.
