New Delhi. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made Chennai Super Kings champion a record 5 times under his/her captaincy, has indicated to play in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni says that he/she would like to enjoy cricket for the next few years. Various speculations were being made about Mahi playing in IPL 2025 but Rajkumar of Ranchi has put an end to it by breaking his/her silence. When Dhoni had given the captaincy to young Ruturaj Gaikwad last season and was himself coming to bat in the lower order, then speculations started about his/her future.

In IPL, all the franchises will have to submit the list of their retained players by 31st October before the mega auction. Dhoni may be retained as an uncapped player by CSK this year. According to the Sunday report of the website ESPNcricinfo, Dhoni said in a promotional event organized in Goa a few days ago, ‘I want to enjoy whatever cricket I have been able to play in my last few years.’

‘You are a Muslim… why do you play for India?’ When the Indian cricketer gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani on the question

Paper lions piled up in the house, former Pakistani player made fun of Team India, New Zealand came to India and beat them like this…

‘Want to enjoy the game for the next few years’
Last week, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan had also said that he/she is hopeful that Dhoni will be a part of the team as a player in the upcoming season. According to Dhoni, ‘I want to enjoy the game in the same way as in childhood we used to go out and play at four in the evening. Just enjoyed the game. When you play the game professionally, sometimes it becomes difficult to enjoy it. There are emotions and commitments involved in everything I do, but I want to enjoy the game for the next few years.

‘Why do I need to move up the order?’
Dhoni batted lower in the order during the 2024 IPL season after undergoing left knee surgery in 2023. The former India captain said that this decision was mainly taken to give young Indian players a chance to spend time on the field before the T20 World Cup. Dhoni said, ‘My thinking was simple, if other people are doing their job well then why do I need to come in the upper order. If you are specifically talking about last year (season), the T20 World Cup squad was going to be announced soon. Therefore, we have to give a chance to those people who were in the race for a place in the national team.

‘My team was happy with what I was doing’
This former Indian captain said, ‘In our team (CSK), there were players like (Ravindra) Jadeja and Shivam Dubey who needed a chance to prove themselves to come to the Indian team. There was nothing in it for me, no selection and stuff. So I am fine (playing lower down the order) and my team was happy with what I was doing. 43-year-old Dhoni has given India all three ICC titles under his/her captaincy. he/she is the only captain in the world to achieve this feat.
