New Delhi. Sri Lanka cricket team’s experienced wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella has failed the dope test. Dickwella has been banned from playing all three formats of cricket. The 31-year-old cricketer has been suspended after being found guilty of alleged anti-doping violation in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League 2024. Nothing can be said right now as to how long this ban will remain in force on Dickwella. Dickwella has a long history of controversies. he/she can be banned indefinitely.
It is being told that Niroshan Dickwella failed an anti-doping test for a drug during the domestic T20 league Lanka Premier League. he/she was the captain of Galle Marvels in LPL (LPL 2024). The Galle Marvels team captained by Dickwella performed brilliantly in the league stage. It was ranked first in the group stage. Marvels played 8 matches in LPL out of which it won 5. After this, Marvels could not perform well in Qualifier 1 and lost the match against Jaffna Kings.
184 runs came from Dickwella’s bat
Niroshan Dickwella scored a total of 184 runs in 10 innings in the Lanka Premier League 2024. During this, his/her strike rate was 153.33. This included a half-century. Dickwella did not get a place in the recent ODI and T20 series played against India. he/she has played 54 Tests, 55 ODIs and 28 T20 International matches so far.
