After this defeat, West Indies is out of T20 World Cup 2024. Now their journey has ended here. After the match, captain Powell said that we may not have won the World Cup. But we have played some good cricket in the last 12 months.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell said, “Credit must be given to the boys for fighting till the end. As a batting group, this is a performance we would like to forget, we did not bat well in the middle overs. We lost wickets continuously and this always breaks the back of the batting team. It was a commendable effort, the boys believed they could defend 135 runs.”

Powell further said, “We have not won the World Cup or reached the semi-finals. But we have played some good cricket in the last 12 months. Talking about the match, South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. Which proved to be beneficial for them. West Indies team could score only 135 runs while batting first. Chasing in the rain affected match, the African team won. According to Duckworth rule, South Africa needed 123 runs in 17 overs. Which they achieved with 5 balls remaining.
