WI vs ENG T20 World Cup LIVE: West Indies blown away by a salt storm, England wins in the 18th over


New Delhi. England has made a great start in the Super-8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup. It easily defeated West Indies in the first match of the Super-8 on Thursday. West Indies had given England a target of 181 runs, which it achieved with 15 balls to spare. The second match of the day will be played between India and Afghanistan from 8 pm. In the first match of the Super-8, South Africa defeated America by 18 runs.

West Indies and England teams are in Group-2 of Super-8. In the same group, South Africa defeated USA by 18 runs a day earlier. There are 4 teams in each group. Each team will play 3 matches in the group. The top-2 teams of the group will enter the semi-finals.

82 runs scored in 10 overs
England won the toss in their first Super-8 match against West Indies and decided to bowl first. However, this decision of captain Jos Buttler proved to be wrong in the beginning when West Indies scored 82 runs without losing any wicket in the first 10 overs.

West Indies innings ended at 180
The way West Indies started, it seemed that they would cross 200. However, England’s bowlers put some check on the Caribbean batsmen in the second half of the game. Due to this, West Indies’ innings stopped at 180 runs for 4 wickets after the scheduled 20 overs.

Charles scored the most runs
Johnson Charles scored the most runs for West Indies. he/she scored 38 runs in 34 balls. Nicholas Pooran scored 36 runs in 32 balls. After the slow batting of Charles and Nicholas, Rovman Powell and Sherfan Rutherford scored runs quickly. Rovman Powell scored 36 runs in 17 balls. Rutherford remained unbeaten after scoring 28 runs in 15 balls. Opener Brandon King retired hurt after scoring 23 runs in 13 balls.

England gave a strong reply
England has made a good start while chasing the target of 181 runs. It has scored 44 runs in the first 5 overs without losing any wicket.
