Why were the statues of Gandhi-Ambedkar-Shivaji removed from the Parliament premises? Lok Sabha Secretariat gave the answer

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Secretariat has given a clarification on the controversy that arose regarding the removal of the statues of great men from the Parliament House complex. The Secretariat said that these statues have been removed due to beautification under Central Vista. After the work is over, they will be displayed properly. It was said that the statue of any great man has not been removed from the Parliament House complex, rather they are being installed systematically and respectfully inside the Parliament House complex.

It is noteworthy that due to the ongoing work under the Central Vista Project, the statues of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Constitution maker Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji installed in the Parliament premises have been removed from their place. Regarding which the Congress also raised questions on Thursday. Congress media in-charge Jairam Ramesh raised the issue on social media and targeted that the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi and Baba Saheb Ambedkar have been removed from their special places in front of the Parliament House. This is a very insulting act.

After this, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said that after the construction of the new Parliament building, a work plan has been prepared for landscaping and beautification in the Parliament complex, so that this complex can be made grand and attractive in accordance with the high dignity and decorum of the Parliament. In the Parliament complex, the statues of the great men and freedom fighters of the country were installed at different places in different parts of the campus. These great men and freedom fighters established the tribal pride of the country through their life philosophy and their deeds, and paved the way for the upliftment of the exploited and deprived society. They are the source of eternal inspiration for the present and future generations of our nation.

Due to their location at different places in the Parliament complex, visitors were not able to see these statues conveniently. Therefore, all these statues are being respectfully installed in a grand ‘Prerna Sthal’ in the Parliament House complex itself. This ‘Prerna Sthal’ is being developed in such a way that visitors coming to visit the Parliament complex can easily see the statues of these great men and get inspired by their life philosophy. In this ‘Prerna Sthal’, arrangements are also being made to provide detailed information to the visitors about the life and contribution of our great men and freedom fighters through modern technology. So that visitors can get inspired by their life and thoughts.
