The Commission has also written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Government in this regard. The Commission has expressed displeasure regarding this matter. Commission sources say that the study has revealed that more than 100 police inspectors and other police officers are like this in Mumbai alone. Who has been holding the same post for more than three years. Whereas the Commission says that it is necessary to transfer all such officers of police, revenue and other departments during elections. Those who have been staying at the same place for three years or more. It is noteworthy that after the election process in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana, now assembly elections are to be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Before conducting elections, the Commission goes to each state and reviews the law and order and other matters for conducting elections. Wherever assembly elections are to be held. In this connection, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and both the Election Commissioners went to Ranchi on 23 and 24 September and reviewed the conduct of elections in Jharkhand. Now on the night of 26 September the commission reached Mumbai. Where before holding elections here on 27th and 28th September, the Commission is holding meetings with all the political parties, Chief Secretary of the state and DGP including Police Commissioner, DC and other officials of various other districts.

In this sequence, on Friday, the Commission held a meeting with the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, DGP Rashmi Shukla, Mumbai Police Commissioner, all the Divisional Commissioners, SPs of the districts, DEOs, Police Commissioners and other officials. Sources said that the Commission expressed strong objection to the fact that till now more than 100 police inspectors and other police officers have not been transferred from Mumbai alone. Who has been staying here for more than three years. More or less the same situation was found in the Revenue and other departments of Mumbai. The Commission says that in order to conduct fair elections, it is very important that all those officers of police, revenue and other departments be removed from their posts. For this, the Chief Secretary of the state and the DGP of Police will have to jointly do their transfer-posting. Similarly, officers of other departments will also have to step down.

The Commission said that while reviewing the state before starting the electoral process, it held a meeting with all the political parties. Apart from this, the Commission is also meeting the local people here. So that what date of voting should be kept and what things should be kept in mind during the elections.
