Why is there a basil plant on Aurangzeb’s grave
Aurangzeb’s tomb is built in a very simple way. There is only soil here. The tomb is covered with a simple white sheet. A Sabza i.e. Tulsi plant has been planted above the grave. Actually, Aurangzeb had said that my tomb should be very simple. It should be covered with ‘vegetable’ plant and does not have a roof over it. There is a stone near this mausoleum, on which the full name of Emperor Aurangzeb is written-Abdul Muzaffar Muhiuddin Aurangzeb Alamgir. Aurangzeb was born in the year 1618 and died in 1707.
Why did Aurangabad choose for your grave
Aurangzeb spent nearly 37 years of his/her life in Aurangabad. This was the reason that he/she was very fond of Aurangabad. he/she built his/her Begum’s tomb ‘Bibi Ka Tomb’ in Aurangabad, which is also known as the crown of Deccan. Apart from this, here was also the grave of his/her Pir, which he/she considered a lot. Aurangzeb also said that I should die anywhere in India, but I should be buried here with Sufi saint Zainuddin Shiraji.

What a will did Aurangzeb do for his/her grave
Emperor Aurangzeb continued to struggle in the Deccan throughout his/her life. Due to this struggle, he/she died in 1707 in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. After his/her death his/her body was brought to Khuldabad. Aurangzeb wrote in his/her will that after death he/she should be buried near his/her guru Sufi saint Syed Zainuddin. Aurangzeb clearly wrote in the will that he/she considers Khwaja Syed Zainuddin as his/her Pir. Zainuddin had said the world long before Aurangzeb.

Lord Curzon built a marble grille near the tomb
After Aurangzeb’s death, his/her son Azam Shah built his/her tomb in Khuldabad. As per Aurangzeb’s wish, he/she was buried near Syed Zainuddin Siraj in a very plain mausoleum. The grandeur of the Mughal emperors took full care of the grandeur and there were security arrangements. However, Aurangzeb’s tomb was made of wood. When Lord Curzon came here in 1904-05, he/she built a marble grill around Aurangzeb’s grave and decorated it.
Know how cruel Aurangzeb was
The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb kept his/her father Shah Jahan in captivity in his/her last days. When Emperor Shahjahan fell ill, his/her three sons Dara Shikoh, Aurangzeb and Murad Baksh started fighting for power. Meanwhile, Aurangzeb took Shah Jahan captive. Aurangzeb grabbed his/her eldest brother Dara Shikoh and rotated it throughout the city and cut his/her head and rotated throughout Delhi, so that people would have awe. Aurangzeb put the youngest brother Murad Baksh in jail and worsens his/her mental condition. he/she did the same thing with his/her nephew Suleman Shikoh. Later both were killed. he/she broke many Hindu temples and built a mosque there. Also, a large -scale conversion campaign was conducted.

Shivaji Maharaj gave tension to Aurangzeb
Historian Sir Jadunath Sarkar has said in his/her book ‘A Short History of Aurangjeb’ that Aurangzeb wants to make India Darul Islam. In such a situation, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj came in the way of his/her plan. On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami i.e. Dussehra, it is believed that since the time of Lord Rama, this day was a symbol of Vijay departure. Lord Rama also departed from Ravana for war on this day. Maratha Ratna Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj also took the initiative to protect Hinduism and establish Hindavi Swaraj by departing against Aurangzeb.
Shivaji Maharaj strengthened marine borders
Shivaji Maharaj had built several forts to protect the maritime borders, one of which was the fort of Sindhudurg located on the Malvan coast in Maharashtra. It was also an important naval base. It was one of the many naval forts made by Shivaji Maharaj to protect the Konkan coastline. Shivaji also built the fort of Vijayadurga on the Konkan coast in a similar way. Sea ships were built here. Shivaji conquered more than 300 forts. These forts played an important role in both ground and marine defense. In 1674, he/she was formally crowned as the king of the Maratha Empire.
When Aurangzeb got the letter of Sambhaji Maharaj
Shivaji Maharaj’s son Sambhaji also gave a lot of tension to Aurangzeb. In 1681, when Aurangzeb’s fourth son-Mohammed Akbar split up with some rebel soldiers in the revolt, Aurangzeb followed him/her and defeated the rebel soldiers badly. Akbar then took refuge in Sambhaji. Sambhaji Maharaj wrote a letter to Akbar’s sister Zeenat. The letter reached Aurangzeb.
What was in the letter that proved to be true
It was written in the letter that the Badshah Salamat should return to Delhi. Once we and our father have shown them out of their possession. If they are adamant on stubbornness, then they will not be able to leave our occupation and go to Delhi. If they want this, then they should find a place for their grave in the Deccan itself. What Sambhaji had said to return to Aurangzeb from Deccan or prepare for his/her grave in Deccan, finally proved to be correct. Aurangzeb was finally buried in Khuldabad in the same Deccan.
