Why is America silent on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, is this the reason?

New Delhi: Even after Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh, the violence there is not stopping. Minorities, especially Hindus, are being targeted in Bangladesh. With the coup in Bangladesh, the issue of safety of minorities, especially Hindus, has become very sensitive. The Prime Minister of India has raised this issue before the Yunus government there. However, the silence of some countries, especially America, on the issue of Bangladesh also raises big questions. America is silent on the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, this is a matter of concern. Bangladesh was not even mentioned in the statement issued after the Modi-Biden talks, this is the biggest example of this silence.

What is America’s stand pointing towards?
The question arises that why America, which calls itself the protector of human rights and democracy around the world, is silent on the situation in Bangladesh. Many defense experts believe that India and America, which are strategic allies, are not unanimous on the issue of Bangladesh. In 1971, America opposed the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan. Not only this, it supported those political parties there which were pro-Pakistan. America has always supported Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bangladesh. During the reign of Khaleda Zia, anti-India forces got safe haven in Bangladesh. America has always tried to weaken the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina. This has also been seen in previous elections.

Conversation between PM Modi and Biden

US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone on August 26. This conversation took place after PM Modi returned from Ukraine. The Ukraine crisis and the situation in Bangladesh were discussed in the conversation. India said that both the leaders expressed concern over Bangladesh. Particularly expressed concern over the safety of minorities there, especially Hindus. But America did not say anything about this. America focused only on the Ukraine war.

Did America welcome this decision?

Foreign affairs expert Brahma Chellaney has questioned the US stance in a conversation with India Today. he/she says that the US is silent on the violence happening in Bangladesh after Hasina. According to Brahma Chellaney, Biden and Modi discussed Bangladesh and expressed concern, as India reported. But the US did not say anything about this, which is a matter to think about. The US is silent on human rights violations in Bangladesh. he/she believes that the US has welcomed the recent change of power in Bangladesh. They are silent on the atrocities happening in Bangladesh. These atrocities include attacks on minorities, arbitrary arrests, forced resignations and physical attacks on political prisoners.

We cannot deny the growing influence of China
Many other experts also believe that America wanted to prevent the birth of Bangladesh. But even today it is not in agreement with India on the issue of Bangladesh. It has welcomed the recent change of power. Some experts also say that these countries often raise issues that are important to them. Why does America have a double attitude towards minorities and democracy in Bangladesh? Is this the result of China’s growing influence? It remains to be seen what stand America takes on the issue of Bangladesh in the coming times.
