Why is America not taking help from Russia to save Sunita Williams, is the space war coming in the way

New Delhi: This is the story of the time when Eisenhower was the President of America. At that time, i.e. in 1954, America was planning to take its first step into space. But, this plan could not take off. That historic day of October 4, 1957, when Soviet Russia launched a satellite named Sputnik. A month later, Sputnik-2 was launched, through which a dog named Laika was sent into space for the first time. This was the first time a living organism was sent into space. This news spread so fast all over the world that America got tensed. Actually, the strings of this story are connected to Indian-origin astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who went to space on June 5 in Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. Since then they are stuck in space. Their initial mission was going to be of 8 days, but due to a malfunction in the spacecraft, they could not return. This was the first flight of Boeing Starliner. The return is getting delayed due to helium leak and a malfunction in the thruster. Questions are also being raised that when Russia’s capsule is already ready on the International Space Station, then why are both not being brought to Earth. Is America not asking for help from its traditional enemy Russia due to this space war? Let’s know the story of the space race between America and Russia.

America kept thinking, Russia launched Sputnik

In fact, after the Second World War, Britain’s dominance in the whole world had ended. Now America was emerging as the new power of the world. In such a situation, it wanted to establish its dominance everywhere, on land, sea and sky. But, the biggest obstacle in its path was the then Soviet Russia, which was moving ahead in space with technology and nuclear capability. When America’s tension increased after the launch of Sputnik, the world understood that in the era of Cold War, a big war for space was also going to start. America also tried to send the first satellite named Vanguard TV-3 into space in late 1957, but it crashed on the launch pad itself. This caused a great disgrace to America in the world of space.

Finally after 1 year America got its first success

According to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, America’s first success came on January 31, 1958, when it launched Explorer-1. At that time, it was decided that a separate and autonomous organization or agency should be formed for American space programs. Finally, on October 1, 1958, the American space agency NASA started working officially.

Yuri Gagarin became the first man to go into space

Former ISRO scientist Vinod Kumar Srivastava says that on April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man to go into space. he/she flew in Earth orbit for 108 minutes at a stretch. In response, America sent Navy test pilot Alan Shepherd to become the second man to go into space on May 5, 1961. By now it was certain that the war between America and Russia over space had begun.

Kennedy planned to put a man on the moon

By now Russia’s dominance in the world of space had increased a lot. When John F. Kennedy became the President of America, he/she first made a plan to send a man to the moon, which could take America ahead of Russia.

When travelers of both the countries lost their lives in the pursuit of space

The first death in the space race occurred on April 24, 1967, when Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov died during a mission. Komarov’s spacecraft Soyuz-1 was destroyed when its parachute was about to open. Earlier on January 27 of the same year, America’s space program suffered a major setback when its first lunar module Apollo-1 caught fire.

That historic day came when America landed on the moon

That historic day of July 1969 arrived when America reached the moon. Apollo-11 was launched from Kennedy Space Center. Four days later, on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to step on the moon. However, some people also call it a conspiracy theory, under which fake pictures of man landing on the moon were shown in the studio. However, this historic event of man landing on the moon was seen by about 50 crore people across the world.

Russia failed to send man to the moon

Vinod Kumar Srivastava says that America had won over Russia by sending the first man to the moon. In fact, Russia had made several failed attempts to send man to the moon before this. It sent 11 rockets from 1963 to 1965, but all failed.

The regret was erased by sending the first female astronaut

Russia compensated for this humiliation when it made its dominance felt in space by sending the first woman into space. Valentina Tereshkova reached space in 1963. It took America 20 years to do the same. Canada sent its rocket and satellite in 1962, France in 1965, Japan and China in 1970. India’s first satellite, Aryabhatta, was launched into space on 19 April 1975 with the help of a Soviet rocket. It was named after the great mathematician Aryabhatta. In 1984, Rakesh Sharma became the first Indian citizen to go into space when he/she went into space in a Soviet spacecraft on behalf of India.

Why is America facing delay in bringing Sunita to Earth

According to Vinod Srivastava, the problem in Sunita’s spacecraft is not related to hardware. Its software is being fixed. Starliner and NASA are also trying hard for this. Instead of asking for help from anyone, they are busy in fixing the defects of the spacecraft. Since they have 45 to 72 days time, they are hesitating to ask for help. 8 capsules can be docked on the ISS. Right now only Russia’s capsule is present there, which is used in emergency. Earlier America also had a capsule. But now all the capsules are of Russia. These capsules are docked on the station. If the worst comes to a situation, then Russia’s capsule is there, with which 5 astronauts can return to Earth together. 5 passengers are on the station, while with the arrival of Sunita and Butch, there are 7 passengers on the station.

Why is Russia’s help not being taken?

Vinod Kumar Srivastava explains that the space war between Russia and America is a very old one, which is still going on. There are 8 such ports on the space station, where capsules can be placed. As of now, there are two capsules, one of which belongs to Russia. Since the relations between America and Russia are not good, America is trying its best right now. Starlink should also have a capsule for emergency situations, which can be used to bring astronauts to Earth. America must be thinking that if it takes help from Russia, then it will have to lag behind in this matter.

The war of the future will be fought from space

Former ISRO scientist Vinod Kumar Srivastava says that future wars will be fought with the help of automatic weapons, robots and artificial intelligence (AI). But, in this race, there is also a war for dominance in space. The role of satellites present in space has changed. They have started giving instructions to the weapons and systems used in the war. Such as giving directions to armed soldiers through GPS, monitoring enemy activities, providing command and control facilities. Apart from this, by destroying or shutting down enemy satellites, an edge can be gained in the war going on on the ground.
