New Delhi : India has expressed displeasure over the welcome of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik to Pakistan. India said the way Zakir was welcomed in Pakistan was ‘condemnable’. Zakir left India in 2016

Jaiswal was answering a question on Naik’s visit to Pakistan. Naik is wanted by Indian authorities for alleged money laundering and inciting extremism through hate speeches. he/she left India in 2016. The previous government in Malaysia led by Mahathir Mohamad had allowed the Islamic preacher permanent residence in the country.

India’s extradition request pending

Jaiswal said India’s extradition request is pending before the Malaysian government. he/she said that we are making efforts for extradition before the Malaysian government. India is understood to have raised the issue during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to New Delhi in August. In response to a question, Jaiswal said that India does not have clear information with which passport Naik had gone to Pakistan.
