New Delhi : The country is saddened by the demise of its former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. An eminent economist, former Governor of RBI, architect of the modern Indian economy who later led the government. The first Sikh Prime Minister of the country. he/she died on Thursday at the age of 92 at AIIMS, Delhi. his/her funeral will take place with full state honors on Saturday. The government has declared 7 days of national mourning. Manmohan Singh was always seen in a blue turban. After all, what was the secret of this color of his/her turban, he/she himself had once revealed it. Manmohan Singh had revealed that the blue color of his/her turban is a symbol of respect for his/her alma mater Cambridge University. In 2006 he/she was awarded the degree of Doctorate of Laws. During that time he/she revealed this secret.

Manmohan Singh did a first-class Masters in Economics from Punjab University in 1954 and stood first in the university. After that he/she obtained a first class honors degree in Economics from Cambridge University in 1957. In October 2006, nearly 50 years after he/she earned his/her degree, Cambridge University awarded him/her a Doctorate of Laws.

During the ceremony when he/she was being awarded the title, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, pointed to his/her blue turban and said, ‘Look at the color of his/her turban.’ Amid thunderous applause on this comment, Dr. Singh said that light blue is his/her favorite color and it reminds him/her of his/her Cambridge days. ‘Blue is my favorite color and often appears on my head,’ she said. he/she told that his/her colleagues at Cambridge affectionately called him/her ‘Blue Turban’.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister for 10 consecutive years from 2004 to 2014. he/she is known for his/her policy expertise and economic reforms. As Finance Minister in 1991, he/she steered India’s economy towards liberalisation, leading to unprecedented economic growth in the country. During his/her tenure as Prime Minister, India achieved high growth rates and millions of people rose above the poverty line.
