Why did BJP lose the Lok Sabha elections in UP? These 6 major reasons came out in the party’s report

New Delhi: In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP suffered a major setback in Uttar Pradesh. After the defeat in the largest state, BJP has prepared a report to find out the reasons for it. Amid reports of differences and resentment among party leaders and workers, UP BJP has submitted its report to the high command. In this report, 6 main reasons have been given for the party’s defeat in UP. This includes the stubborn attitude of the administration, dissatisfaction among party workers, paper leak and contractual recruitment in government jobs. Let us tell you what reasons BJP has given for the defeat in UP.

1. The opposition did misleading propaganda regarding reservation

UP BJP has said in its report that during the Lok Sabha elections, opposition parties spread misleading propaganda on reservation. The opposition repeatedly spread misleading propaganda on BJP’s stand on reservation. Apart from this, the report says that the party did not get full support of Kurmi, Maurya and Dalit communities. A 10 percent decrease in the vote share of Mayawati’s BSP and improvement in the performance of Congress in some areas have also been included in the reasons for the defeat.

2. The administration’s arbitrariness proved costly

The report said that lack of coordination between the administration and the party, discontent among workers and inability to handle caste equations properly were the major reasons for the defeat. The report said that the MLA has no power. The District Magistrate and the officers run everything. Due to this our workers are feeling humiliated. RSS and BJP have been working together for years, building strong ties in the society. Officers cannot replace party workers.

3. Paper leak and employment issues also gained momentum

The UP BJP report also cited the paper leak issue as one of the reasons for the defeat. The report said that at least 15 papers were leaked in the last three years, which gave credence to the opposition’s propaganda that the BJP wanted to stop reservation. On top of this, government jobs were being filled by contractual employees, which gave the opposition an opportunity to spread misleading propaganda about the party.

4. It is important to resolve mutual differences

Party sources say it has been conveyed to the central leadership that the state unit must resolve its differences at the earliest and start working at the grassroots level to prevent this sentiment from developing into an “forward versus backward” conflict. “The winning streak of 2014, 2017, 2019 and 2022 should not be underestimated. Senior leaders need to intervene and provide guidance. The state must understand the importance of following central directives. We are all equal; no one should dominate. Leaders must understand the local issues of UP, and make efforts to boost the morale of workers,” said a party functionary.

5. Early distribution of tickets also became the reason for the defeat

The report also said that the election campaign reached an early peak due to the early distribution of tickets. By the sixth and seventh phases, fatigue had set in among the workers. Statements made by party leaders against reservation policies further aggravated the party’s dwindling support.

6. Agniveer Yojana and old pension scheme also showed effect

The report said, ‘Issues like old pension scheme reduced the votes of senior citizens, while issues like Agniveer and paper leak did not make the youth support the BJP. At the same time, the opposition effectively raised those issues which were a concern for the people.
