Who is the best spinner in T20I? Rashid or Kuldeep Yadav, know the words of numbers

New Delhi. The popularity of T20 cricket has increased so rapidly that due to this the existence of Test and ODI cricket seems to be in danger. T20 format is attracting cricket lovers in today’s busy life. The reason for this is that there will be a flurry of fours and sixes and the result of the match will be out in just 40 overs. While the batsmen have ‘ball-ball’ in this format, the bowlers seem to be struggling. This is the reason why bowlers who concede 7 or less runs per over are highly sought after in this format. There are some bowlers who, despite being very ‘miser’ in terms of runs, are also successful in taking wickets. Surprisingly, there are more spinners than fast bowlers. Among these spinners, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal of India and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka are prominent.

All these spinners will be the center of attention in the T20 World Cup to be held in June 2024. At present, fans are divided on who is the best spinner in T20I. Most of the cricket lovers consider Rashid Khan to be the best spinner of T20 (and also of ODI). Well, if we look at the ‘numbers’, India’s Kuldeep Yadav is currently seen to be ahead of this wrist spinner from Afghanistan. While ‘Chinaman’ Kuldeep is better than Rashid in bowling average and strike rate (how many balls bowled per wicket), the Afghan spinner is ahead in economy (runs given per over). It is also important to keep in mind that Rashid (85 matches) has played more than twice as many matches as Kuldeep (35 matches). He returned to cricket only in March after back surgery and is still nowhere near his best performance. Even in IPL 2024, Rashid’s bowling performance so far has been ordinary.

A bowler born in Chennai has taken a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup, one bowler has taken 4 wickets in four balls.

Kuldeep Yadav is the best in bowling average

If we talk about the best bowling average in T20I among players from ICC full member countries, Kuldeep Yadav is at first place and Rashid Khan is at second place. Kuldeep has so far taken 59 wickets in 35 T20 International matches at an average of 14.10, while Rashid has taken 138 wickets in 85 T20Is at an average of 14.27. Both the bowlers have taken 5 wickets in an innings twice, but in terms of taking four wickets in an innings, the record of Rashid (5 times) is better than that of Kuldeep (once).

Apart from bowling average, Kuldeep’s figures in economy are also better than Rashid. The strike rate of left arm wrist spinner Kuldeep is 12.54 while that of Rashid is 14.10 i.e. Kuldeep has taken a wicket on an average of every 12.54 balls while Rashid has taken a wicket on an average of every 14.10 balls. If Kuldeep is overshadowed in bowling average and strike rate, then Rashid’s figures in economy are better. This leg break bowler from Afghanistan has spent an average of 6.07 runs per over in T20 International matches, while Kuldeep has spent 6.74 runs.

Both different styles of bowlers
Both Rashid and Kuldeep are bowlers of different styles. Rashid does not turn the ball much but is very fast in the air and ‘deceives’ the batsmen with his pace. Even famous batsmen fail to ‘read’ the googly of Rashid, who bowls stump-to-stump. On the other hand, left arm wrist spinners (Chinamen) like Kuldeep are very rare in world cricket at present. Googly and wrong’un are the special ‘effects’ of Kuldeep’s bowling. By changing the speed of the balls and also their flight, they create problems for the opposition batsmen. Both Kuldeep and Rashid are currently playing in IPL 2024. While Kuldeep is a part of Delhi Capitals team, Rashid is of Gujarat Titans.

Hasaranga is at third place among current bowlers
At present, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka is at third position in bowling average among the players of full member countries playing cricket. Hasaranga has taken 104 wickets in 65 T20Is so far. His bowling average is 15.56 while the economy is 6.84. Hasaranga is better than Rashid Khan in strike rate (13.65). Hasaranga has taken four wickets in an innings thrice but his column of taking 5 wickets in an innings in T20I is currently empty. Hasaranga, who took a hat-trick in his debut ODI, has also taken a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup 2021. It is believed that the wickets of West Indies and America will prove to be helpful for spin bowlers, in such a situation, Kuldeep, Rashid and Hasaranga can prove to be ‘trump cards’ for their teams in the T20 World Cup. India’s 15-member team also includes wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has taken the most wickets (96) for the country in T20Is.

Kuldeep will play in T20 World Cup for the first time
Rashid Khan has so far taken 23 wickets in 15 matches of three T20 World Cups at an average of 16.17 and economy of 6.37, during which four wickets for 9 runs has been his best performance. Similarly, Wanindu Hasaranga has taken 31 wickets in 16 matches of two T20 World Cups at an excellent average of 11.45 and economy of 5.81, during which three wickets for 8 runs is his best performance. Kuldeep Yadav will play in the T20 World Cup for the first time. Obviously, like last year’s ODI World Cup, they would like to make this big T20 tournament also memorable for themselves. Let us tell you, Kuldeep had taken 15 wickets in 10 matches of the ODI World Cup at an average of 24.53, during which his economy was 4.32.
