New Delhi. The impact player rules are under discussion before the start of IPL 2025. All -rounder Hardik Pandya has questioned this rule. Hardik is not the first player to raise his/her voice against this rule, but many veterans including Rohit Sharma have said a lot on it. According to this rule, both teams have to mention the names of 4 additional players in addition to 11 players at the time of the toss. One of the 4 additional players is used as an impact player. Impact players can be sent to the ground only by the 14th over of Pari. This rule was first implemented in the IPL in 2023.
The captain, coach and team manager of the IPL team have to tell the field or fourth umpire about the impact player. After the arrival of the impact player, the player who will be out will not be used in the entire match. The impact player will be fielded only amidst the end of the over, falling wickets or injury of the player. In the middle of the match, the match cannot be changed. In the impact player innings, the entire batting can bowl 4 overs of the quota. Despite this, only 11 players can bat in any situation. If the match starts late due to some reason or it seems that even 10 overs will not be played? Then the rule of the impact player does not apply. Or this rule does not apply in the game with over 10 over.
Tushar Deshpande replaced Rayudu
The first impact player in the IPL was fast bowler Tushar Deshpande. In the first match of IPL in 2023, Tushar was included in the playing XI by Chennai Super Kings in the match against Gujarat Titans. Then Tushar could not do anything special and he/she had robbed 51 runs for one wicket. Chennai lost in that match.
Hardik Pandya said- All-rounder is suffering from impact player rules
Hardik Pandya has said that in today’s date, if you are not completely 50-50 all-rounders, then it becomes difficult to get your place. Let’s see that this rule can change or change later. But if you want to encourage all -rounders, then they will need to give place in the team. There has also been a loss of this rule. This has made it difficult for all -rounders to get a place in the playing XI. Hardik Pandya has described the solution to this problem. he/she said that the impact player has changed a lot of things. Now a cricketer should be a pure all -rounder to get a place in the initial playing eleven.
