Who is listening… Is Modi listening? What did Kapil Sibal say on RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comment?

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday took a dig at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Vijayadashami speech. Sibal asked whether PM Modi was listening. Bhagwat, during his/her speech at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on the occasion of Dussehra, spoke on social and cultural harmony in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief K Sivan.

After all, what did Sibal write?

Responding to his/her speech a day later, senior advocate and Supreme Court Bar Association President Kapil Sibal quoted Mohan Bhagwat’s message on X and wrote that all festivals should be celebrated together… among all types of people. There should be friendship… Languages may be diverse, cultures may be diverse, food may be diverse but friendship… will bring them together. Who is listening? Modi? any other? Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had also criticized Bhagwat’s remarks. Kharge had said that the RSS ‘supports the party which wants division in the country.’

What did Bhagwat say?

In his/her address, Bhagwat had said that our diversity has become so much that we have divided even our saints and gods. Why should Valmiki Jayanti be celebrated only in Valmiki Basti? Valmiki wrote Ramayana for the entire Hindu society. Therefore, everyone should celebrate Valmiki Jayanti and Ravidas Jayanti together. All festivals should be celebrated by the entire Hindu society together. We will go to the society with this message.

Bhagwat said that this task cannot be accomplished just by organizing some symbolic programs. There should be friendship among all sections of the society, among individuals and families. The Sangh chief said that wherever I go and wherever I work, I should have friends among all types of people. he/she said that languages may be diverse, cultures may be diverse, food may be diverse, but this friendship of individuals and families will bring harmony in the society.
