Twitter Blue Tick: Twitter is set to remove the legacy verified blue check mark from today, April 1, but the White House has said it won’t pay to verify official Twitter profiles of its employees. According to a report in Axios, the White House’s director of digital strategy, Rob Flaherty, has also emailed staff in this regard.
“We understand that Twitter does not provide level verification as a Blue service,” the e-mail reads. The guidance doesn’t necessarily apply to government agencies, but it may send guidance to some agencies and departments in the future, according to the report.
Some White House officials, such as the President and Vice President, will continue to be verified with gray checkmarks. In his/her email, Flaherty said that in accordance with Twitter’s policies, it will no longer be able to guarantee verification of federal agency accounts that do not meet its new eligibility requirements.
Meanwhile, micro-blogging platform Twitter on Friday announced that its ‘Organization Verification Service’ is available globally. According to the company, Verified Organization is a new way for organizations and their affiliates to differentiate themselves on the micro-blogging platform.
Accounts that are affiliated with the Organization will receive an Affiliate badge on their profile with the business’s logo, and will also be displayed on the Organization’s Twitter profile showing their connection. The company said, all organizations are screened before joining Verified Organizations.
