While North India is reeling under intense heat, monsoon enters Kerala with thunder, know the weather update

Special Correspondent, New Delhi: North India is in the grip of scorching heat. The heat is scorching in the plains and the forests are burning in the hilly areas. On the other hand, the mood of the weather seems to be changing in the south. The Southwest Monsoon entered Kerala on Thursday, two days before its scheduled time. Not only this, it has reached the North-East about 6 days before its normal time. According to experts, the speed of the monsoon increased due to cyclonic storm Ramal and it reached the country early. The Indian Meteorological Department announced the arrival of monsoon in Kerala. Along with this, the monsoon has covered most parts of Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam while completely covering Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh. It normally covers Kerala on June 1 and then the North-East on June 5.

Southwest monsoon makes a grand entry

The entry of monsoon has also been quite explosive. It is raining heavily at many places. According to experts, monsoon may knock in Delhi by the end of June. Usually, monsoon reaches the capital around 27 June. The normal date of arrival of monsoon in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, parts of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Gujarat is 10 June. 5-day alert in Meghalaya The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning in Meghalaya in the next five days. Many districts of Manipur are flooded. All government offices will remain closed till 31 May. Assam Rifles soldiers have rescued about 1,000 people from flood-affected areas in Manipur.

Somewhere orange and somewhere yellow alert regarding rain in Kerala

8 injured in lightning in Kerala Eight people were injured due to thunderstorms in different parts of Kerala and lightning in Kozhikode. One person is admitted in ICU while the condition of 7 others is stable. An orange alert has been issued for three districts of the state – Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam and a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining 11 districts. Normal life has been affected due to heavy rains in many parts of Kerala. Roads are inundated, water has entered houses and trees have fallen. People have had to move to relief camps in many parts.

The forests of Uttarkashi are still burning

The weather has changed with the entry of monsoon in Kerala, while the maximum temperature in North India is constantly going up. Common people are troubled by the scorching heat. In some parts of Rajasthan, despite the maximum temperature falling by three degrees Celsius, the period of severe heat continues. The Meteorological Department has indicated that people will get relief from heat from June 1. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Bikaner between May 31 and June 2. On the other hand, the Rajasthan High Court directed the state government to give compensation to the dependents of the people who lost their lives due to heat stroke.

Electricity demand in the country reached record levels

In view of the scorching heat, all educational institutions in Bihar will remain closed from May 30 to June 8. Temperatures of more than 46 degrees are being recorded in districts like Gaya, Aurangabad, Kaimur. Amidst the scorching heat, the maximum demand for electricity in the country reached a record 246.06 gigawatts on Wednesday. The Ministry of Power said that electricity consumption is increasing due to increased use of air conditioners and coolers in homes and offices. On Tuesday, the maximum demand for electricity reached 237.94 gigawatts in this session. The highest consumption record so far was 243.27 gigawatts in September 2023. The Ministry of Power has estimated the maximum demand for electricity to reach 260 gigawatts this summer.

The blazing forest fire in Uttarakhand is not stopping

The forests in Uttarakhand are still burning due to fire. The fire in the forests of Mukhem Range and Barahat Range near Uttarkashi is not getting extinguished. After several fires in the forests of Mukhem Range, the forest near Gufiara of Barahat Range also caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. Before the forest department team engaged in extinguishing it could succeed, the forests of Radi Top area on the Yamunotri Highway also got engulfed in forest fire. Yamuna valley is covered in smoke.
