Which strategy of Yogi and Modi gave massive victory to BJP in Maharashtra, know 5 big reasons

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘Ek hain toh safe hai’ seems to be a hit along with Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Bantenge to Katenge’ in the Maharashtra assembly elections and UP by-elections. The trends of Maharashtra Assembly election results are showing the storm of BJP led NDA alliance. In the trends of 288 seats in Maharashtra, BJP’s Mahayuti alliance seems to be getting more than 200 seats. Similarly, in the by-elections held for 9 assembly seats of UP, BJP is seen getting at least 7 seats. It is believed that the main reason for this victory is polarization. Let us understand.

BJP became alert after victory of Mahavikas Aghadi in Lok Sabha elections

Maharashtra has 48 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. In this election, Mahavikas Aghadi got 30 seats and Mahayuti alliance got 17 seats. That is, ten times the public showed its inclination towards Mahavikas Aghadi. After this, BJP and Sangh changed their strategy. Both of them placed their bet on Yogi and Modi with extreme caution.

This was BJP’s position in the 2019 assembly elections.

If we look at the figures of the assembly elections held in 2019, BJP got 105 seats, Shiv Sena (undivided Shiv Sena) got 56 seats, NCP (undivided NCP) got 54 seats and Congress got 44 seats. After which Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress together formed the government. However, this alliance could not run the government for long.

Shiv Sena and Pawar faction also joined the grand alliance

In June 2022, due to internal disputes between Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde separated from a faction of Shiv Sena. Ajit Pawar also brought a faction of NCP with him/her. After this he/she joined the BJP and Shiv Sena government of Eknath Shinde and became the Deputy Chief Minister. This played an important role in turning NCP voters towards Mahayuti. At the same time, Shinde also succeeded in connecting Shiv Sena voters with Mahayuti.

Maratha factor and unemployment issue not discussed

The issue of Maratha factor and unemployment in Maharashtra has not been in favor of Mahavikas Aghadi. In fact, polarization of votes left these issues largely behind. At the same time, it is important for Mahayuti to bring an issue like Hindutva which has been strong across the country. As Mahayuti had expected, the slogans of Yogi and Modi worked.

Yogi’s slogan worked in Maharashtra, the bet is on

This slogan was raised by Yogi Adityanath in Haryana, which resulted in the victory of BJP. However, when BJP put up Yogi’s ‘Bantenge to Katenge’ banners in Maharashtra, it got a sharp reaction because the kind of Hindutva that is prevalent in Uttar Pradesh or Haryana does not prevail in Maharashtra. But, after the results came out, it has become clear that the era of polarization has started in the politics of Maharashtra too.

Congress’s move to save the Constitution did not work

In the Lok Sabha elections, Congress had given the slogan of ‘Save the Constitution’. Especially this slogan worked in the Lok Sabha constituencies of UP. This was a big narrative which could not work in the Maharashtra assembly elections. The atmosphere there was not there against the central government. Congress’s bet on Maratha reservation also did not work.

RSS also handled the front with caution

It is believed that RSS had maintained the lead in Maharashtra elections. Like Haryana, RSS people were active here also. In fact, the reason behind BJP’s poor performance in UP in the Lok Sabha elections was believed to be the union’s distance from the elections. But, when BJP lost from many places in UP, Sangh people were again deployed in the elections.

Ladli Brahmin Yojana also gave rise

After the ‘Ladli Behan Yojana’ of the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh, the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra also started the ‘Chief Minister-Meri Ladli Behan Yojana’ in the month of June this year. Under this scheme, eligible women are being given Rs 1500 every month. It is believed that this factor also had a big contribution in BJP’s landslide victory.

Congress’s issue of unemployment also proved useless

In the Maharashtra elections, Congress, which is part of the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP are cornering the state government on issues like inflation and unemployment. In such a situation, the opposition alliance Mahavikas Aghadi was hopeful that they would get the support of the people in the elections. But, the results were the opposite. Neither the issue of guarantee of MSP of soybean was raised in Maharashtra.
