How much punishment can be done, know this

According to Advocate Shivaji Shukla, there will be no legal action against illegal migrants on returning to the country. If someone took a way to flee to America by cheating, manipulating, then there is a provision of punishment and fine from one to seven years in such cases against such people. These methods can lead to legal action-

  • Passport is rigged
  • Passport has been destroyed.

  • India’s borders have the right to take action in the provisions of the Immigration Act 1983 on the people going to other countries illegally.

Between October 2022 and September 2023, 96,917 Indians were illegally caught crossing the border in the US. Of these, 30,010 were caught on the Canada border and 41,770 on the Mexico border. According to the USCBP, 1,49,000 Indians were detained in an attempt to illegally enter the US between February 2019 and March 2023. Most of these people were from Gujarat and Punjab. At the same time, according to a recent study by Pew Research Center, more than 7,25,000 Indians are living illegally in the US.
