When Vivek Oberoi stopped getting work in films, he/she started a business, said- there was no money

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is now making a comeback in films. he/she was last seen in ‘Indian Police Force’. he/she does not shy away from talking about his/her personal and professional life. The actor, who has gone through many ups and downs in his/her film career, is now also a successful businessman. In an interview given to ‘The Indian Express’, Vivek Oberoi told that despite proving himself as an actor, he/she did not get any film offer. So he/she focused his/her attention on business. Talking about his/her difficult period, Vivek Oberoi said, ‘I had stepped into business before becoming an actor. At the age of 15, I started a small work. Because I was in a boarding school and my father had given me Rs 500 pocket money. I was in a boys’ boarding school. I saw beautiful girls in Mithibai College, so I wanted to take them on a date. I was given Rs 500 every month. But I spent everything on a single date. My father scolded me and told me to use money wisely and be more responsible. Now I was 15 years old, so my ego was hurt. I told my mother that I don’t need money from my father. I will manage it myself. I stuck to this decision and didn’t take a single rupee from my father. But I needed money to go to college, for tea and for rickshaw. That’s when I started working by mistake. I did a small voice gig, compared shows and started earning a little from there.’

Vivek Oberoi talked about earning and saving more money to go to the US for further studies before entering acting. he/she said, ‘When I started earning more, I started investing in the stock market. I took training from brokers for this. I started my stock market portfolio when I was 16-17 years old. I did some commodity trading. I was 19 years old when I first set up my business in Whitefield, Bangalore. I sold my stake at the age of 21 and went to New York for further studies.’

Vivek Oberoi stopped getting roles despite success

Vivek told that even after becoming an actor, he/she kept investing in business. he/she said, ‘When I returned, I became an actor. Company was made. Saathiya was made. Life was good. But I always wanted to start as an investor. However, I became a businessman. This helped me a lot.’ However, according to him/her, his/her work as an actor was appreciated but despite this, he/she stopped getting work. Filmmakers stopped giving him/her roles. After which he/she started focusing on his/her business.

Vivek Oberoi faced difficulties in Bollywood

The actor had once told that even when he/she was a successful actor, he/she had to face difficulties in Bollywood. he/she was facing challenges even after proving his/her acting skills. he/she was not getting many film offers. he/she was feeling a different kind of pressure due to this. This was his/her only source of income. he/she was running his/her house and charitable foundation with the money earned from business. he/she used to earn through films, events and appearances and was also paying his/her staff from that. However, due to his/her good business sense, he/she is financially strong. he/she has invested in 29 companies so far.

Vivek Oberoi did not ask for money from anyone, started companies

Vivek Oberoi said, ‘I was running a school in Vrindavan. I was helping cancer patients. So when the income from my films started decreasing, the roles stopped coming, I knew that I would not be able to continue all this. I never asked for money from anyone. I did not even ask for a rupee from my father. So I will not ask from anyone else. That’s when I started business. I got involved in real estate. Philanthropy is a part of my life and I needed to be financially secure.’
