When Vinod Kambli was in the team, he/she used to point out Sachin’s shortcomings…fellow cricketer narrated his/her ordeal.

New Delhi. After the recent video of Vinod Kambli with Sachin Tendulkar, everyone started sympathizing with him/her. While some people are looking for a way to help them, many people are also giving them the knowledge that if they had worked hard in their youth, they would not have had to face this day in their old age. Leaving aside the comments on social media, let us talk about Sanjay Manjrekar who has played 2 World Cups with Vinod Kambli. Manjrekar narrated an anecdote some time back in which there were three characters – Sanjay himself, Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar. This is the story of the 1992 World Cup.

Sanjay Manjrekar tells Sportskrida that Vinod Kambli did not get a place in the playing eleven in the initial matches of the 1992 World Cup. Because of this he/she remained a little upset. When we used to meet in the room after the match, Vinod would often point out shortcomings. They would say that Sanjay, you batted slowly or you could have pulled on such and such a ball but did not. he/she did not even spare Sachin. Then Sachin and I formed a good partnership against Zimbabwe and we won. Despite this they were saying that the match was fine but we could have won sooner. Should have played a little faster. Then he/she told Sachin that John Troikas is such an ordinary off-spinner. You could have hit him/her outside the ground but you were taking one run each on his/her ball.

We will do whatever we have to do to get rid of Vinod Kambli’s addiction but first…the veterans have set a condition.

Sanjay Manjrekar tells in this sequence that he/she has seen that there is only one person who can make Sachin angry, then it is Vinod Kambli. Vinod Kambli was such a character. Then finally Vinod got a chance in the match played against Pakistan in Sydney. Kambli batted at a strike rate of 54-55 in this match. Sanjay further explains, ‘After the (Sachin-Sanjay) match, we took Kambli to the corner and asked him/her what happened. Why didn’t you bat fast? You hit a lot of sixes in the nets. What is the meaning of batting with a strike rate of 54-55 in the match? Kambli’s reply to this was that they were bowling very tight.

Sanjay Manjrekar again says that this was Kambli. he/she gave a simple answer that the bowling was tight. he/she would often say such things and at the end we all would laugh. Let us tell you that Sanjay Manjrekar, Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli, all three have been Mumbai cricketers and played together for India in the 1980-90s. For this reason all three know each other well.
