When Speaker Om Birla had to say during PM Modi’s speech, honorable members should not look at mobiles.

New Delhi: The two-day special discussion on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha ended on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied on the special discussion in the House. Modi gave a speech for about an hour and 50 minutes. During this, the PM fiercely targeted the Congress. When the Prime Minister was giving a speech, an incident came to light. Actually, a member was using his/her mobile in the House, due to which the Speaker interrupted him/her.

‘Don’t look at mobile in the house’

Amidst PM Modi’s speech, the Lok Sabha Speaker suddenly said, ‘Honourable members should not look at mobile phones in the House.’ However, the cameras of Parliament were towards Prime Minister Modi. Therefore, it could not be known who was looking at the mobile in the House.

PM Modi targeted Congress

In his/her speech, Prime Minister Modi targeted Congress and said that the biggest slogan in the history of India is ‘Garibi Hatao’. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had given the slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’. Responding to the two-day discussion in the Lok Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, Prime Minister Modi said that there is a word which the Congress likes very much. he/she said, “Their (Congress’s) most favorite word, which they cannot live without… is ‘Jumla’.”

Opposition raised slogans of ‘Adani-Adani’

When the Prime Minister said this, the opposition, especially the Congress members, raised slogans of ‘Adani-Adani’. Congress and other opposition parties have often been attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), terming the promises made by Prime Minister Modi and the ruling party as ‘jumlas’. On many occasions the opposition has also termed BJP as ‘Indian Jumla Party’.

“Congress loves the word ‘Jumla’.”

Modi said, “Our friends in Congress use the word ‘Jumla’ day and night. But this country knows that the biggest slogan in India, which has been used by four generations, is ‘Garibi Hatao’.’ ‘Garibi Hatao, Desh Bachao’ was the slogan of Indira Gandhi’s 1971 election campaign. “It was a catchphrase that helped him/her politically but did not help the poor,” Modi said.

‘You saw the poor on TV and in newspapers’

he/she said, “Can anyone explain why people should not even have toilets? My government also started the campaign for construction of toilets.” During this, the Prime Minister also mentioned various schemes taken by his/her government in the direction of poor welfare. Taking a dig at the opposition leaders, Modi said, “You have seen poor and poverty on TV and newspapers, you do not know what poverty is.”

he/she said that when NDA got the opportunity to form the government in 2014, democracy and the Constitution got strengthened. The Prime Minister said, “It is a big resolution of his/her government to free the poor from difficulties.” he/she said that today 25 crore people have come out of poverty.
