After playing against England, India will not play any other ODI match. India will play all their matches in Dubai in the Champions Trophy to be hosted in Pakistan. The BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan for security reasons. The ICC and PCB decided to conduct the tournament in the hybrid model.

Indian team captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played ODI in August 2024 last time. Sri Lanka defeated India 2–0 in this 3-match series. The first match was left on par while the second and third matches were won by the hosts. Rohit Sharma scored the most runs in this series while Virat disappointed. In 3 matches, the Indian captain scored 157 runs while Virat was able to score only 58 runs.
