When Pakistan broke the promise to Dalits, do you know the story of the first law minister of Pakistan?

October 8, 1950, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan was sitting in his/her office. Then a person enters with his/her resignation. he/she was the first Labor and Law Minister of Pakistan Jogendra Nath Mandal. A Dalit Hindu leader. he/she had spent his/her entire life in the upliftment of Dalits. he/she also went to Pakistan in this hope from India, but had to return within three years.Facing discrimination
Jogendra Nath was born on 29 January 1904 in Barisal, undivided Bengal. Now this part is in Bangladesh. In 1934, he/she completed law studies, but not to advocate. he/she was watching the poor condition of Dalit society since childhood. he/she himself had to face discrimination many times. In college days, he/she had decided that he/she would uplift Dalits by coming into politics.

League eye
his/her political career began in the year 1937. That year he/she was elected to the Bengal Legislative Assembly. In 1938, he/she founded the Independent Scheduled Cast Party in collaboration with 20 Scheduled Caste MLAs. he/she joined the government with the Congress, but when his/her demands for Dalits were rejected, they went into opposition. The Muslim League was also constantly monitoring Jogendra Nath Mandal. When the League accepted all their demands related to Dalits, he/she joined Jinnah’s party.

Ambedkar’s warning
Jogendra Nath Mandal was not in favor of partition of India at first, but he/she believed that living among the upper castes in India would never improve the condition of Shudras. Mohammad Ali Jinnah also assured him/her. Mandal felt that Pakistan is a better option for Dalits. he/she decided to go to Pakistan and convinced many people of his/her community to leave India. When Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar came to know about this, he/she warned Jogendra Nath, but he/she did not listen.

Jinnah is ignored as soon as

As long as Jinnah remained, Jogendra Nath Mandal was honored in Pakistan. Jinnah gave him/her the responsibility of presiding over the first session of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan. The meeting was held on 11 August 1947. Jinnah made him/her the first Labor and Law Minister of Pakistan. he/she was also associated with the Ministry of Commonwealth and Kashmir Affairs. Jinnah died in 1948. Only after this, Jogendra’s contempt started. Muslim -majority bureaucracy did not pay attention to his/her orders. Other ministers in the government would also ignore him/her. In March 1949, Pakistan was brought to a proposal to run according to Sharia, which he/she criticized a lot.

Death in oblivion
Jogendra Nath Mandal was saddened by the plight of Hindus in Pakistan. In his/her resignation, he/she wrote, ‘After long thinking and struggle I have come to the conclusion that there is no place for Hindus to live in Pakistan. Their future is suffering from a terrible shade of conversion or disintegration. ‘ he/she returned to India in 1950 and tried to freeze in politics again, but due to his/her past, the public could not trust him/her. he/she contested four elections and lost all. Then also took out a newspaper, which could last for a short time. he/she died on 5 October 1968 while crossing the river by a boat.
