Meenakshi Seshadri was once a famous actress of the Hindi film industry. She has played many strong characters in many memorable films, one of which was Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Damini’, which was released in the year 1993. In a recent conversation, Meenakshi revealed that she was dropped from the film after rejecting Rajkumar Santoshi’s romantic proposal and marriage proposal. She told how she remained silent even in that situation and finally got a chance to rejoin the film thanks to the support of the Producers Guild. Talking to Zoom, Meenakshi Seshadri said, ‘Rajkumar Santoshi ji and I decided not to talk about it. This matter is old now. But it was necessary to stand up bravely, because no one should be told that they are no longer needed. I dealt with it by keeping quiet. I just said that I would choose not to comment on it, because turning it into a fight is against my dignity. This is not a fight.’

She further added, ‘I stood up for what I believed in and if things were going to be okay, we would work together as a team. That was the message I wanted to give to the film fraternity and the audience. I was there to make a great film and ‘Damini’ was definitely going to be that film.’

Meenakshi told how the entire Producers Guild supported her, ‘I respect everyone associated with the film, especially Santoshi ji, because his/her vision was great. After all, they say work speaks louder than words, so the Producers Guild, Artist Guild, everyone together made this possible.’

Meenakshi married Harish Mysore

Meenakshi later married Harish Mysore in 1995. The couple has two children, a daughter and a son. Rajkumar Santoshi also found love elsewhere, he/she married Manila and they became parents to Ram and Tanisha. Meenakshi and Rajkumar Santoshi’s first film together was Ghayal (1990). After ‘Damini’, they worked together again for ‘Ghaatak’ in 1996.
