When Hindus are being oppressed, how is the game happening… Grandson follows grandfather’s footsteps; Aditya Thackeray raises questions on India-Bangladesh series

A test match is to be played between India and Bangladesh in Chennai from 19 September. All preparations have been done. Both the teams are in Chennai and are waiting for the match to start. Meanwhile, questions have arisen on the organisation of the test match itself. Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Aditya Thackeray has raised questions on the cricket match on the lines of his/her grandfather Bal Thackeray. he/she has also asked questions to the Ministry of External Affairs citing the atrocities being committed on Hindus in Bangladesh.

Aditya Thackeray posted a long post on social media platform X on Tuesday night. The entire post is about the India-Bangladesh cricket series. Aditya Thackeray’s post is being linked to the politics of his/her grandfather Bal Thackeray. Everyone knows that Shiv Sena led by Bal Thackeray used to oppose India-Pakistan cricket matches. On some occasions, Shiv Sainiks even dug up the pitch before the India-Pakistan match. Is Aditya Thackeray on the same path? Before knowing this, let us know what he/she has written in his/her post.

Why is the government being lenient towards BCCI?
Aditya Thackeray writes in his/her post, ‘So the Bangladesh cricket team is on a tour of India. We have come to know from some media and social media that Hindus have faced violence in Bangladesh in the last 2 months. I just want to ask the Ministry of External Affairs whether this is true. If yes, and Hindus and other minorities have faced violence there, then why is the BJP-led Indian government being so lenient towards the BCCI and why is it allowing the tour? If not, does the Ministry of External Affairs agree with the news continuously coming in social media and media about violence in Bangladesh?’

Is this just election propaganda…
Aditya Thackeray further writes, ‘Trolls are spreading hatred among Indians on the pretext of violence in Bangladesh. Whereas, BCCI is hosting the same Bangladeshi team. I am surprised why those who are actively campaigning against this violence are not questioning BCCI. Or is this just an attempt to create hatred in India and election propaganda?’

It is clear from Aditya Thackeray’s post that he/she has only raised questions on the India-Bangladesh series. The way he/she has asked questions, the ball is now in the court of the Central Government and BJP. The Central Government or BJP will hardly answer it. There is a reason for this. When Bal Thackeray used to raise questions on the India-Pakistan series, the reason for that was the neighbouring country’s support to terrorists and due to which Indian citizens had to lose their lives every now and then. Whereas, even though the government has changed in Bangladesh, its relations with India have not been affected much. The relations between India and Bangladesh are more or less the same today as they were two months or two years ago. After the uproar in Bangladesh, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled from her country and came to India. She is still in India. Therefore, there is no reason why there is a crisis on the India-Bangladesh series. The series between India and Bangladesh will happen as per the scheduled program. Yes, Aditya Thackeray can try to take political advantage on this pretext in the future as well.
