When BJP got a setback from UP and Maharashtra, these states became its lifeline; saffron flag waved for the first time in Kerala

New Delhi: The results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are no less than a lesson for the BJP. They got the majority, but there were three-four states where the Bharatiya Janata Party did not get the expected number of seats. While states like UP, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka gave a big blow to the BJP, states like Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha became its lifeline. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 303 seats in which UP and Rajasthan also played a big role. The BJP had hopes from UP this time too, but here the hopes were dashed.

This became a lifesaver

In Madhya Pradesh, BJP had won 28 out of 29 seats in 2019 but this time all the seats have gone to BJP’s account. Here BJP’s vote share has also increased by about one percent. In Andhra Pradesh, BJP could not open its account last time but this time it has won three seats. In Assam, BJP has maintained its figure of 9. In Chhattisgarh too, BJP has won one seat more than last time. In 2019, BJP got 9 seats and this time 10. In Gujarat, BJP has lost one seat but has prevented the total tally from going down further by winning 25 out of 26 seats. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP had won all four seats in 2019 and this time too BJP repeated its same performance.PM Modi has been put on the back foot… Where did the weakened Congress get the lifeline from?
BJP also retained its two seats in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP suffered a major setback in Karnataka but Odisha acted as oxygen for BJP. In 2019, BJP had won 8 seats here but this time BJP has won 19 seats. In 2019, BJP’s vote share here was 38.88 percent, while now BJP’s vote share has reached 45.53 percent. In Delhi, BJP’s vote share decreased by about two and a half percent compared to 2019, but despite the Congress-Aam Aadmi Party alliance, BJP managed to win all 7 seats. Telangana also helped in increasing BJP’s oxygen level. In 2019, BJP had got 4 seats here and this time BJP has won 8 seats. The vote percentage also increased from 19.65 to 35.06 percent. In Uttarakhand also, like the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP won all 5 seats. In Tripura also, BJP repeated its last Lok Sabha election performance and won both the seats. Tripura saved BJP’s overall vote share from falling. In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s vote share in Tripura was 49.56 percent whereas this time it is 70.72 percent.

BJP got its first victory in Kerala
BJP has opened its account in Kerala for the first time. BJP candidate Suresh Gopi defeated the CPI candidate by 74686 votes in Thrissur seat. Before this, BJP has not won any Lok Sabha seat here. Gopi was also a BJP candidate in 2019. BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram candidate Rajiv Chandrashekhar also gave a tough fight to Congress’ Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor won by 16077 votes. BJP was on mission mode to increase its footprint in the South. BJP has taken strong steps by winning one seat in Kerala, doubling the figure in Telangana and winning 3 seats in Andhra Pradesh.
