What will happen on the demand for impeachment against Allahabad HC Justice? Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar cleaned the whole situation

New Delhi: Notice was given against Allahabad High Court Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav to bring impeachment motion in the Rajya Sabha. This notice was sent to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on behalf of several MPs during the last session of Parliament about two months ago. On Thursday, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, while giving a statement on the matter, said that Honorable Members, I have received a provided notice received on 13 December 2024. It has signs of 55 honorable members of Rajya Sabha.

What is in notice?

The notice demanded the removal of Justice Shekhar Yadav of Allahabad High Court under Article 124 (4) of the Constitution. The constitutional jurisdiction on the subject mentioned is especially with the President of Rajya Sabha and will have Parliament and Honorable President under any circumstances. Keeping in mind the available public information and receiving the received, it would be appropriate that the General Secretary of Rajya Sabha share this information with the Supreme Court General Secretary.

After this comment was made by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, these MPs will keep an eye on what steps the court and Rajya Sabha now take on their demand. A delegation led by senior advocate Kapil Sibal gave this notice against Justice Shekhar Yadav of Allahabad High Court. This notice has been given to bring impeachment motion in the Rajya Sabha against Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav.

Congress MP raised the issue

The proposal is signed by 55 MPs including Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal. These include MPs Vivek Tankha, Digvijay Singh, P. Wilson, John Britas and KTS Tulsi etc. The issue of the alleged controversial statement made by the Allahabad High Court judge was raised in the Rajya Sabha in the last session. However, the Chairman did not allow the discussion on the subject.

The statement made in VHP program

he/she had said that it cannot be discussed under Rule 267. The Chairman said that the rules are very clear in this context, which is made by us people. Allahabad High Court Judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav made an alleged controversial statement at a program of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s legal cell held in Prayagraj last year. Many opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha including the Congress wanted to discuss this in the House, registering a protest against this statement. However, he/she was not allowed.
