What is Smart Replay System, will it be used in Women’s T20 World Cup, how is it different from DRS?

New Delhi. Women’s T20 World Cup (Women’s T20 World cup 2024) is going to start from today (October 3) in UAE. The first match will be played between Bangladesh and Scotland. This time something different is going to happen in the World Cup. Smart Replay System is going to be used in the tournament. This system has been used in many tournaments before.

ICC said in a press release, “There will be at least 28 cameras in every game. With the help of which every game will be seen in a better way. There will also be provision for DRS system. Which will include Hawk-Eye Smart Replay System. “This will make it easier for TV umpires to give quick and accurate decisions.”

A cricketer, who had two fingers missing, became the world’s star bowler, even Kapil Dev could not stand him/her.

The system is to help the umpires. In this, the TV umpire will take the decision by using eight high-speed cameras of Hawk-Eye deployed around the stadium along with two Hawk-Eye operators. TV directors will not be included in this. This technology has already been used in The Hundred League and IPL 2024.

Smart replay system will be easier than before. In this, eight Hawk Eye cameras installed around the stadium and two Hawk Eye high speed cameras will help the umpire in taking decisions. The new system for stumping will give TV umpires tri-vision, allowing them to see footage from the front-on as well as side-on cameras in the same frame. Hawk-Eye cameras record at a speed of approximately 300 frames per second. This will make it easier for the umpires to take decisions.
