What is SAT exam?

The SAT is a standardized test whose scores are used for admission to many American colleges and universities. On the basis of this score, admission is available in undergraduate courses. Whenever one chooses a course to study, it also contains the details of SAT score required for admission. The main objective of this test is to find out whether the student coming out of school is capable of going to college and studying.

What is the format of SAT exam?

The SAT can be divided into two main sections, while there is also another section which is optional.

If the SAT exam is given without the optional section i.e. the essay section, then you get three hours for it. However, if one wants to take the SAT exam with an essay section, then the time given is 3 hours 50 minutes. 65 minutes are given for the Reading Test, while 35 minutes are given for the Writing and Language Test. In this way, you will get 100 minutes or say 1 hour 40 minutes to complete the first section.

Similarly, for the Math test i.e. the second section, you are given 80 minutes. The Math test is divided into two sub-sections, one of which is a calculator test, for which students are given 55 minutes. Then you have to give the second sub-section without calculator, for which you will get 25 minutes. About 80 percent of the questions on the math test are multiple-choice.
