What happened that BJP withdrew the Jammu and Kashmir candidate list after just one hour, inside story

New Delhi : BJP released the first list of 44 candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on Monday. As soon as the list was released, protests started. As a result, the party withdrew the list. The list posted on X was deleted. Later a new list was released. First a list of 15 candidates and then a second list was released in which there is only one name – Chaudhary Roshan Hussain Gujjar from Kokernag. What happened that BJP had to withdraw the list of candidates within an hour? Let’s understand.BJP workers enraged by parachute candidate
The list which BJP withdrew had 44 names which included the names of the seats where voting took place in all the three phases. It announced the names of candidates for 15 seats in the first phase, 10 in the second phase and 19 in the third phase. The names of 36 candidates from Jammu region and 8 from Kashmir valley were announced which included the names of two Kashmiri Pandits Veer Saraf and Ashok Bhatt. As soon as the list was released, BJP workers started protesting. The anger of the workers erupted over the parachute candidates. Angry workers started protesting outside the office of state president Ravindra Raina. Seeing the crowd of furious workers, Ravindra Raina had to lock himself in the cabin. The security of his/her office was increased. The workers were angry that why leaders from other parties were given preference? Why were the loyal leaders of the party ignored? The interesting thing is that the list which BJP had to withdraw did not even have the name of Ravindra Raina.

BJP released a revised list but did not change the faces on the declared seats
After the protest, BJP withdrew the list released earlier and released a revised list of 15 candidates. This list was only of the candidates for the first phase. In the withdrawn list also, the same 15 seats and the same names of the first phase were announced. That is, in a way, BJP withdrew the list of seats of the second and third phases only. Later, BJP released a second list with the name of one candidate. Chaudhary Roshan Hussain Gujjar has been given a ticket from Kokernag assembly seat of South Kashmir. The name of the candidate for this seat has not been announced in the withdrawn list. Voting for Kokernag assembly seat is also on September 18 in the first phase.

Tuesday is the last day for filing nominations for the first phase
Voting for the 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases. In the first phase, voting will be held on 24 seats on September 18, in the second phase on 26 seats on September 25 and in the third phase on 40 seats on October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.

Names of second and third phase candidates were released by mistake?
After initial confusion, BJP has finally announced the names of candidates for 16 of the 24 seats in the first phase. The last date for filing nominations for the first phase is 27 August. That means there is no time left now, nominations can be filed only on Tuesday. BJP may have withdrawn the initial list but it will hardly be able to pacify the angry workers. The reason is that the 15 names announced for the first phase in the revised first list were also in the withdrawn list. Yes, now it will be interesting to see that when BJP releases its list for the second and third phases, the same names will remain in it which were in the withdrawn list or there will be changes. By the way, the way BJP had to withdraw the list of 44 candidates indicates that changes can be seen in the new list that will come for the seats of the second and third phases. By the way, it is also being said that BJP had to announce the names of candidates only for the first phase but by mistake the names of the candidates for the second and third phases were also released in the list. So the party withdrew him/her.

Resentment among party workers against parachute candidates
As soon as BJP released the list of 44 candidates, BJP workers got angry. The names of many big faces were missing from the list. The names of former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta were missing. The name of state BJP president Ravinder Raina was also missing. The names of former ministers Sat Pal Sharma, Priya Sethi and Shyam Lal Chaudhary were missing. The interesting thing is that the name of Union Minister Jitendra Singh’s brother Devendra Rana, who had left the National Conference and joined the BJP, was included in the withdrawn list. There were many names in the list who had left the National Conference, PDP, Panthers Party and Congress. Like Devendra Rana, former minister Mushtaq Bukhari, who left the National Conference and joined the BJP, was given a ticket from Surankot seat. Murtaza Khan, who came from PDP, got a ticket from Mendhar. Former minister Shyam Lal Sharma, who left the Congress, was declared a candidate from Jammu North.

The workers raised strong slogans in favour of Omi Khajuria
The discontent of the workers came out in the open due to the preference given in ticket distribution to the leaders who had left other parties. The most resentment was seen when Omi Khajuria’s ticket was denied from Jammu North. The party had given ticket to Shyam Lal Sharma who had come from Congress from here, but later the list had to be withdrawn. Angry BJP workers protested outside the Jammu BJP office. They raised slogans in favour of Omi Khajuria and demanded ticket for him/her and threatened mass resignations if this was not done.

Even if the names remain intact or even if they are changed, dissatisfaction will be seen in both situations!
Releasing the list first and then withdrawing it after a short while can also cause harm to BJP. Now if the names of those leaders who were in the withdrawn list are not there in the final list, they will see it as giving them tickets and then cutting them off. This can give rise to discontent. Rebellion can be seen in the party on those seats. And if the same old faces are there in the revised list for the second and third phases like the seats of the first phase, then the displeasure of those workers will remain who had protested as soon as the initial list was released. However, it is not necessary that BJP will suffer losses by withdrawing the list. During the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party had changed its previously declared candidates on many seats. The results were also quite good according to that. Now it remains to be seen how BJP handles its faltering even before the election battle begins in Jammu and Kashmir. All eyes will be on whether it will take the risk of changing the candidates after careful consideration like SP or will ignore the discontent of the workers and bet on the same names which were in the withdrawn list.
