What happened from 2019 to 2024 that BJP remained far away from majority, look at these figures

New Delhi: Many people are surprised at the results of this time’s Lok Sabha elections 2024. The results came completely opposite to what was predicted by the exit polls. Most exit polls showed NDA crossing 350. After registering a spectacular victory in 2014 and 2019, BJP failed to get a majority on its own in 2024. After the results, it seems that the shine of Brand Modi has also faded. On the other hand, Congress has performed better this time and has reached close to three digits. By looking at the results carefully, it will be easily known through these figures that how BJP lagged behind this time.

What happened from 2019 to 2024?

➤ In 2019, Congress won only 15 out of 190 seats where it had a direct contest with BJP. In terms of percentage, it is close to 8 percent. This time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, out of 214 such direct contests, it will win 61 seats. This figure is close to 28 percent.

➤ In 2019, BJP had 303 seats out of 352 seats of NDA. It was close to 86 percent. This time BJP has 240 seats out of 290 seats of NDA. If we look at it in terms of percentage, the decline is not much, it has come down from 86 to 83. But this time it does not have a majority and there is a greater loss of seats.

➤ BJP could not do anything special in four of the 5 states with the highest number of Lok Sabha seats this time. In Uttar Pradesh, compared to the last election, its number decreased from 62 to 33 (total 80 seats), in Maharashtra it decreased from 23 to 10 (48), in Bengal it decreased from 18 to 12 (42) and in Tamil Nadu it could not even open its account in 39 seats (39). It has also lost 5 seats in Bihar.

➤ Last time, out of 131 SC/ST seats in the whole country, 77 went to BJP’s account. While Congress got only 11 seats. This time BJP’s figure on these seats came down to 53, while Congress’ figure reached 33.
