What happened between Modi and Zelensky for 45 minutes, will India’s intervention stop the Russia-Ukraine war?

New Delhi: Ukrainian President Zelensky and PM Modi met for the third time in less than three months. While returning from his/her US visit, PM Modi and Zelensky had a last minute meeting in New York on Monday. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Modi and Zelensky talked for about 45 minutes. Modi told Zelensky that he/she has talked to many world leaders on this issue and everyone agrees that a way has to be found to end the war. he/she said that our efforts are also continuing for this.Meeting with Zelensky at Ukraine’s request
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the meeting was requested by Ukraine and the meeting took place accordingly. Modi met the Ukrainian leader in Kiev last month and a few weeks before that in July, the Prime Minister met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Responding to a question, Misri said that our support for finding a path to peace through dialogue and diplomacy is not new. It is natural for us to play this role.

Time will tell if the war will end
Misri said that even in his/her meeting with Zelensky, the Prime Minister said that he/she always talks about following the path of peace and tranquility. Misri said that it is clear that if there is no peace, there cannot be sustainable development because both these things are interconnected. Misri also said that only time will tell whether the war will end as everyone’s efforts are focused on finding a way to end the conflict. When asked whether India’s argument was accepted that importing Russian oil is not a way to further its war efforts, Misri said this issue did not come up in today’s discussions.


PM Modi said this after the meeting
Talking to media persons after the conclusion of PM Modi’s US visit, Misri said that the meeting provided an opportunity to review the recent developments. Modi posted on social media platform X. he/she wrote that he/she met Ukrainian President Zelensky. We are committed to implementing the results of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Modi mentioned his/her visit to Kiev last month and the discussions held on bilateral issues and all matters related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. (With agency input)
