What did Priyanka Chopra do that Salman said so much, the actor said- Kareena is the real desi girl

After ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship was not good. There was tension in their relationship and all this got spoiled because of the comments that Salman had said about Priyanka. Priyanka, on the other hand, avoided talking about Salman and due to personal and Hollywood commitments, she stayed away from India.

Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship reportedly became strained after their film ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004). Their bond did not remain as good with time and reached such an extent that they decided not to work together on any future projects. Earlier, in a 2011 interview, Salman had called his/her ‘Bodyguard’ co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan the original desi girl.

Was Priyanka unhappy with Salman’s comment?

This was clearly seen as a comment on Priyanka, who was given the title of Desi Girl by Karan Johar after a song from the film ‘Dostana’. At an award show in 2011, Priyanka Chopra’s spokesperson revealed that she was very unhappy with Salman Khan’s comments about her. Priyanka also made it clear that she does not want to talk about Salman.

Did Salman Khan take a dig at Priyanka?

Her spokesperson said, ‘Priyanka is not happy that Salman is taking a dig at her and this is not the first time he/she has done so. She wants to stay away from it.’ It was also assumed that they have fixed things and moved on. Priyanka was about to make a comeback in Bollywood with Salman’s film ‘Bharat’, but she backed out at the last moment. Many reasons were given for this but the most important was her engagement with Nick Jonas and her commitments to a Hollywood film with Chris Pratt. While director Ali Abbas Zafar wished her all the best, many others were not happy and called her unprofessional.

Salman said- I got to know about it at the last moment, 10 days before the shooting

It was assumed that Salman also has the same feeling. However, at the Delhi trailer launch of ‘Loveratri’, Salman clarified that, ‘At that time we had come to know that she has signed a very big film there and if we had come to know a little earlier, we would have never stopped her. We came to know at the last moment, 10 days before the shooting. My shooting had started, but 10 days before her schedule, we came to know which film she wanted to leave, we should not have done this.’

Salman said- We are really happy with his/her good work

Taking the conversation forward, Salman also said, ‘Whatever the reason may be, whether it is marriage or a film or she does not want to work in India or does not want to work with me, she only wants to do Hollywood films and TV shows. Those are her own reasons. We are really happy with her good work and support her. If she is working with a big hero, then Hindustan’s name is illuminated, right?’ Later, Salman and Priyanka patched up on Ritesh Deshmukh’s birthday and then both surprised everyone by hugging each other.
