What are the options for Congress which has not learned from the defeat? If you don’t wake up now, problems will increase.

New Delhi: After the victory of India Alliance in Jharkhand and the crushing defeat in Maharashtra, there will be a review in the opposition camp regarding the results of these elections. At the same time, for the Congress, which performed better in the Lok Sabha elections, the results revealed on Saturday are like the second big blow in a row after the defeat in Haryana. Even though Congress may consider the victory of India Alliance in both the assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand after the Lok Sabha elections as another medal on its chest, but the truth is that the role of Congress was instrumental in the victory of India Bloc in both these states. Has been. Regional parties played the main role. On the other hand, in states like Haryana and Maharashtra where Congress’s stake was very high, the party’s performance was quite disappointing.

Somewhere happy, somewhere sad in the results

The election results revealed on Saturday were mixed for Congress. Where in Jharkhand, Congress repeated its old performance and managed to win 16 seats like last time. The party’s performance in Maharashtra was extremely poor. Congress could not win even 10 percent seats in Maharashtra, where in the last assembly elections, Congress had won 44 seats after fighting on 147 seats. On the other hand, this time Congress was seen winning barely 15 seats after fighting on 102 seats. In Maharashtra, all its big leaders including former CM Prithviraj Chavan and former president Balasaheb Thorat lost the elections.

On the other hand, in Nanded and Wayanad Lok Sabha by-elections, Congress won the Wayanad seat, which it was bound to lose. The party has also won Nanded seat. In this way his/her number in the Lok Sabha remains only 99. The Congress, proud and proud of its good performance in the Lok Sabha elections, performed disappointingly in many seats where it had performed better in the last one year. In the Rajasthan Assembly by-elections, the party lost three of the seats it had won just a year ago. Similarly, in Punjab also it lost the three seats it had won. However, in Punjab, Assam and Madhya Pradesh, Congress was seen snatching one seat each from its opponent. It also won three seats in Karnataka and one seat in Kerala.

Party struggling with factionalism

As soon as the results came in Maharashtra, allegations and tussle started within the party. Former CM Prithviraj Chavan blamed his/her top leadership for his/her defeat in the state. he/she said that our leadership is bad. On the other hand, after the disappointing performance during the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, BJP and its allies tried their best, while despite such an important state, all the big leaders and leadership of Congress are camping in Wayanad to ensure the victory of Priyanka Gandhi. Came. This was the reason why big leaders even Rahul Gandhi could not create the same connect on the ground this time as he/she had created during the Lok Sabha or Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi’s influence is visible from the fact that during Maharashtra elections, he/she held election rallies in Nandurbar, Dhamangaon Railway, Nagpur East, Gondia, Chimur, Nanded North and Bandra East seats. There was a huge crowd in these election rallies, but this crowd did not convert into votes. Rahul Gandhi held rallies for seven assembly constituencies, but MVA won one seat. On the other hand, a major shortcoming of Congress is factionalism within it, not taking decisions on time and not learning lessons from defeat, which affects the party’s morale, workers and performance. The result of mutual factionalism was that the party, which had won in Haryana, lost the game.

Rebels increased the challenges by contesting on many seats in Maharashtra. At the same time, lack of mutual coordination among the central leadership was seen having an impact on the party’s decisions. The party had to suffer the consequences of this. Be it the distribution of seats among the Indian alliance or the selection of candidates, mutual infighting and factionalism seem to dominate everywhere. After the defeat in Haryana, the party had formed a review committee, what happened to its report is not yet clear. Due to the policy of postponing decisions, the party also appears to be struggling with policy paralysis.

Changes in organization?

There has to be a large scale change in Congress, but due to various reasons major changes are not taking place in the party. There is talk that after these elections, there will be changes from the organization general secretary to the media. Although there has been talk of change for a long time, its implementation is being continuously postponed. There is going to be a change in the role of Priyanka Gandhi within the party in the coming times. he/she is the general secretary, but he/she does not have any charge. There is talk that he/she may get some important responsibility. In many states, there is to be a change in the post of in-charge as well as president.

Impact will be visible on Parliament session

It is believed that after Haryana, the impact of Maharashtra election results will also be visible on the upcoming Parliament session. While along with Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi will also be seen in the lower house, the influence of Congress in floor management within the Parliament will be less. The way the Congress and India alliance appeared aggressive in the last two sessions after the Lok Sabha elections, it remains to be seen whether the same edge will be maintained now?
