Weather Update: Monsoon rained heavily this year, there was 7.6 percent more rainfall in the season, know how the weather will be now.

New Delhi: During this monsoon season, there has been 934.8 mm rainfall across the country. This is 107.6 percent of normal. That means there has been 7.6 percent more rainfall in the season. Central India received 19 percent more rainfall. Whereas South Peninsula received 14 percent more rainfall, Northwest India received seven percent more rainfall. At the same time, 14 percent less rainfall was recorded in East and Northeast India. This year, in the four months of monsoon, there was 11 percent less rainfall in June, 9 percent more in July, 15.3 percent more in August and 11.6 percent more in September.

Hotter than normal in October

Most parts of the country will be warmer than normal in October. IMD DG Dr Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that the maximum temperature in most parts of the country in October will be above normal. It may remain below normal only in some parts of Central India and South Peninsula. At the same time, rainfall in Northwest India will be less than normal during October to December. During this period, rainfall may be more than normal in some parts of Central India, South Peninsula and parts of Northeast India. According to IMD, the South Peninsula may receive 112 percent of normal rainfall during this period. Normally 334.13 mm rainfall occurs during this period. Rainfall is expected to be normal or below normal in most parts of the country. At the same time, 115 percent rainfall is expected across the country in October. The average rainfall during October is 75.4 mm. Despite this, there is a possibility of less rain in Northeast and Northwest India.

1492 people died in weather events this monsoon season

Maximum 895 deaths due to floods and rains

This monsoon season, 1492 people lost their lives in natural disasters and extreme weather events across the country. According to IMD, most of the lives were lost in flood and rain incidents. 895 people lost their lives in these. Whereas 597 lives were lost due to storm, lightning and lightning.

525 heavy rain incidents across the country

According to IMD, 525 heavy rain incidents occurred across the country. This is the highest in the last five years. When 115.6 to 204.5 mm of rain falls in a day, it is called heavy rain. There have been 96 incidents of extremely heavy rain. This happens when 204.5 mm of rain falls in a day.

17 people died due to heat wave

According to IMD, 17 people died due to heat wave. Of these, 13 deaths occurred in Jharkhand and four in Rajasthan. These deaths occurred at the beginning of the monsoon season. 397 lives were lost in the land slide that occurred on July 30 in Wayanad district of Kerala. There were 102 deaths in Assam and 100 in Madhya Pradesh. Whereas in the capital Delhi, 13 deaths occurred due to floods and rains. Whereas due to lightning and storm, maximum number of deaths occurred in Madhya Pradesh at 189, followed by 138 in Uttar Pradesh, 61 in Bihar and 53 in Jharkhand.
